日前，補習社導師駕保時捷撞車身亡。其補習社啟事稱亡者為「教育家」。此為港人喜充「大頭鬼」又一「活學」例證。啟事摘錄如下：
「. . . Lai Sir 熱愛工作、有責任感，是位富有理想及熱誠的教育家，他對教學的堅持、對學校的發展均有前瞻獨到的見解，是我們一眾的學習榜樣 . . . 」
區區補習社導師一條，竟敢成「家」？誠然，導師有市場觸覺，嗅到冤大頭的位置，靠補習賺了大錢，飲得杯落。在搵銀方面，作為我輩香港人的學習榜樣，他當之無愧。但是，如今補習社為他追封「教育家」這「謚號」，卻實在飴笑大方。試想想，胡適、蔡元培是從前想當然的教育家；現在，補習社導師又是「教育家」；那麼，我們大學時曾幫人補習，又是否可在CV自稱「教育家」呢？屌 . . .
中國人真是「言詞的巨人」。一年交幾千塊錢，便可以開間一人公司，過其行政總裁癮；一個動作片演員，聲夠大面皮夠厚，便可僭越導演，妄稱電影是其作品；文盲戲子係才女；跑龍套係藝術工作者；妓女係性工作者 . . . 其實，通通都係大頭鬼！
也難怪，身處光速時代，任何事都講求單刀直入。慢慢地，腦袋只能條件反射，變得不懂思考。因此，當「含蓄」由美德變成兜圈、唔明白、玩野甚至整色整水，最後得以「含七」告終時，我們只好事事「畫公仔畫出腸」，繼而「吹水唔抹咀」，以致「吹大左」，更甚是「吹爆左」。
所以，「先敬羅衣後敬人」，有時真係害死人。

Congenital Liar - 20090929
William Safire, the columnist accused Hilary Clinton as "a congenital liar", died of pancreatic cancer on 26 Sep 2009.
I seldom read Safire's articles, and would prefer his column "On Language" to the "Op-Ed" ones. Though sometimes interesting, the languages used, to me, were usually Greek. Say, to understand the famous proverb "nattering nabobs of negativism", I had to look up two words in the dictionary.
You have to appreciate the freedom and openness that US advocates and adopts. In the so call left wing New York Times, William Safire, as a republican, could be employed for 30 years. Can you imagine Apply Daily to hire 劉廼強 as their chief writer? I am not saying the freedom Hong Kong enjoys is incomparable to the US's, but the quality of readers makes the difference .
Safire also epitomized what a professional spinner should be. The photo taken in 1959, between Khrushchev and Nixon, framed as "The Kitchen Debate", saved million words to promote the edge of Capitalism. Even Armstrong and Aldrin completed the "mission impossible", the situational speech of their sacrifice has been beautifully prepared as part of the plan.

師傅 - 20090928
今早乘小巴上班，司機是新手。女師傅從旁指導，循循善誘，非常熱心。
在香港，「師徒制」似乎已經是瀕臨絕種動物，原因有很多。
「知識普及」應該是其中一個共犯。「師徒制」的教授模式，以「口傳身授」居多。例如中醫，偏方秘方從前多是一派相承，不入門弟子難窺其獨門秘技。今天，要在香港做註冊中醫，沒有學位卻不行了。既然技藝已經「學位化」，師傅亦已變成教授、光碟、Wikipedia、甚至YouTube的files了。
「機械化」是師傅消失的另一原因。無可否認，機器使我們的生活得到重大改善。裁縫換作車衣女工、木匠入榫換作黏膠水、手剁魚蛋換作四海魚蛋 . . . 高效率和同一化的商品淘汰了師傅。代價可不小，衣服再沒有裁縫的貼身、傢具再沒有入榫的穩陣、魚蛋也再沒有手剁的彈牙。
最大問題是「教識徙弟無師傅」。現在道德淪亡，勿說尊師重道，普通一聲「唔該」要出自一眾「80後」口中也是珍罕。當契弟們有問題，師傅像是「老奉」要教曉他們似的。因此，「施恩莫望報」是鐵定了。此外，師傅質素每況愈下可能亦是原因之一，他們害怕被取代，終日誠惶誠恐。

Voyage - 20090927
Yesterday we went to Cheung Chau, the long forgotten island which the four of us have not been stepped on for years. I guess nobody would love to go there by helicopter, which the service is rendered by Government Flying Service. Thus, ship would be the only accessible means.
Living in a coastal city, there should be no less opportunities for Hong Kongers to sail. Though the Victoria Harbour has virtually become a ditch, many people, no matter visitors or local ones, would still be happy to commute between Central and TST by the cheap Star Ferry. For longer voyages, there are plenty of choices, say to Macau; or those gambling cruises, which are popular among aunties in public housing estates.
Traveling by ships gives me mixed feelings. The faster the vessels, the duller the experience.
Thanks to Turbojet, we could go to Macau in around an hour. However, as the ship is in that cheetah-swift, you could only have fleeting glimpses to the surroundings. Even worse, if you choose New World First Ferry instead of Turbojet, the greater ups and downs inside the cabin would exhaust all the available vomit bags. Nobody would love to lose weighs in such a vigorous way, and NWFF is thus one of my personal everlasting blacklist items.
On the contrary, slow ferries could give you an irreplaceable holiday mood. Star Ferry could always give you some sorts of peace, even in that mere several minutes trip. In the voyage to Cheung Chau, the slow vessel is an excellent tranquilizer. Sitting in the open cabin, situated in the rear of the ship, the decker allowed you to feel the breeze, smell the salt and touch the sticky air. When we were on our way back to Central, under the comfortable pace, Cheung Chau first lingered around. Below the shining new moon, Cheung Chau gradually contracted as a barely visible point. Enchanted in the intoxicating ambience, suddenly, we found ourselves were embraced by the twinkling hoardings along the parallel sides of the Victoria Harbour.
N shared a little joke on the return trip. When she visited Thailand some 10 years ago, one of the spots was Pattaya which a super rocky boat trip was involved. Landed, all the comrades vomited, except two groups of people - - - one from Cheung Chau and the other from Yuen Long. They were used to the tumbling lives!

寧靜的早晨 - 20090926
昨夜沈睡，至十時起，把一周累積下來的「眠債」掃清，精神奕奕。打開房門，發現只剩我一人在家，心情輕鬆愉快。
肚子有點餓，把過期兩天的即食麵解決。講究的我，不會只滿足於味精湯包。打開冰箱，取出三隻連頭殼大蝦乾、一撮江魚仔，下水煮沸。上湯已成，下麵及「師父」，最後加媽媽老細「排骨」秘制辣椒油點綴，一頓美味早餐大功告成。麵有點淋，但湯鮮配料正，加上辣椒油的刺激，最後連湯也幹掉！
吃飽，見地板有點髒，於是幫它做 facial。先吸塵後拖地，看見水桶的水，嘩，這麼黑．．．也沒辦法，媽媽每天要忙的事也太多了。幸好只有我一人在，煥然一新的地板可免受污染．．．一會兒吧。說時遲那時快，正當洗澡時，「糟老頭」已回來了。
寧靜真是寶貴。在一周的工作後，飽受摧殘的身心能夠得到滋養 - - - 眠一個甜夜、做一頓早餐、作少許家務，舊電池又叉滿了。

William Somerset Maugham - 20090925
Similar to most of the ordinary Hong Kongers, I got acquaintance to Maugham, together with Maupassant, from the extract of 《驀然回首》by 白先勇, when I was in secondary school. However, not being interested in novel then, especially the English ones, I have not had a glance on Maugham's work. It would rather be lucky to me. As if I had done so, my time would have just been wasted, since no youngsters would click on it. The tone of Maugham's books seem flat and boring.
I guessed 董橋's articles ignited my interest in Maugham. I first picked up Of Human Bondage some two years ago when my spare time re-emerged after the completion of first year LLB exam. Viewed as a semi-autobiological novel, it unravels the dark side of humanity. Though I was rather discontent to the happy ending, the entanglement of lust and human frailty throughout did amuse me.
According to 白先勇, he learnt the style of "disinterest analysis" from Maugham. I cannot agree more. The judgment could be exemplified from Maugham's short stories. Like, The Lotus Eater, the main character, Thomas Wilson, who quited his job at 30's and moved to Capri, with nothing to work on, just "hea" around. This normally-treat-as-parasite, lived a life we ordinary people just dream of but not dare to, was coolly dismantled by Maugham without any overt sentiment shown.
The Moon and Sixpence is another good example. Based on the life of artist Paul Gauguin, Maugham again, applying his skill acquired from medical training in writing the novel, acted as a surgeon, anatomizing the main character Charles Strickland. The callousness of Strickland was optimized by Maugham's cold-bloodiness. The genius's nonchalance to proletariat's banality recalled a friend of mine. However, the most beautiful thing is, we should be reminded the concept of value, say a LV bag worths the moon to you, but less than sixpence to me. So, stick to yourself and don't bother others.
Maugham is surely one of my favourite writers. Through his English snobbish strokes, the idiosyncrasy of all the trivial minnows shines. Self-claimed as a writer "in the very first row of the second-raters", to me, his works bring so much more fun than those first-raters.

健談？多咀！ - 20090924
大千世界，人種紛陳。在眾多厭惡性人格當中，多咀屬於小害 - - - 令人煩厭卻未至於罪大惡極。但是，當有些人，誤把多咀作健談，便罪加一等了。
多咀通常是小朋友的專利。在好奇心及口腔期未有適當排解的雙重影響下，小朋友經常吱喳不停。「呢d咩黎架？」「鍾意呀，吹呀？」. . . 諸如此類的嘈音，是父母們的天籟，卻是閒人們的電鑽鎚仔聲。當然，一個正常的成年人，明白小朋友多咀就猶如林瑞麟的催眠，是個不能避免，但又無害的惡作劇，不會和他們計較。
但是，當一個連大學也畢業了的成年人還經常咀gel gel，便是罪行了。 「嘩，禽日詐病去見工呀？」「依，你同阿戊一齊annual leave，行埋呀？」這些話，只能是心底話，絕不能是家常閒話。當你無聊，或以為別人不作聲便一樣無聊時；自以為健談的你，試圖以禁忌打開話匣子，結果只會「及著脷」。輕則一句「關你乜事？」；嚴重的，可能換來兜口兜面「講乜撚野呀你？」。而我，會選擇不望多咀仔女，輕蔑一笑便是。
其實，口腔肌肉，不比心臟肌肉，是隨意肌，即是，它的活動是大腦能控制的。所以，見到多咀仔女鳩嗡，你應該同情他。因為，他要不是沒有大腦，不能控制口腔肌肉；便是口腔肌肉異常，不是隨意肌了。

Timidity - 20090923
I could hardly believe that, by asking for a small change of the office shift, from 9am - 5:45pm, to 8:45am - 5:30pm, for a mere single day, your supervisor could not approve it, and told you to solicit her supervisor's agreement. What a dreadful experience it involved for that tiny 15 minutes swop.
If there is a worldwide competition on "Timidity", Hong Kong should be a serious contender for the crown. Originated from a paternal root, Chinese is a docile people. Only yesman could climb up the ladder in the concrete wood. If you dare say no to boss, in ancient time, it usually led to lynch and death was not an uncommon result. In modern time, the penalty would be much less severe, but your luck would surely be exhausted in the workplace.
Thus, timidity is the by-product. To ensure oneself safe, everybody would shrewdly be dumb when boss is presence. We know it too well when boss is asking for opinion, they are expecting nothing but encore. Indeed, everybody has their own smartest view. However, it would only be articulated to the unrelated pedestrians. And we are too afraid of carrying the wok!
At the end of the day, it would simply be unrealistic for sheep to make judgment.

手帕 - 20090922
除了自己，沒有看見男性友人用手帕；就是女性朋友，也沒幾個用它。
小時候沒有用手帕的習慣，因為紙巾更方便企理。反而，到廿歲出頭，便開始用起手帕來。環保可能是一個小小的原因；更重要的是，現在紙巾的質素普遍糟糕。便利店貨色是「黃腫腳不消提」；就是Tempo，在廣告中花言巧語吹噓製品如何堅韌，結果濕了一樣爛化開。所以，大汗的我惟有懷舊起來用手帕了。
算起來，衣櫃裡也有廿條手帕。初時多數在吉之島十蚊店入貨，因為十元便能購得日本製品，實在是價廉物美。及後愛上無印出品。因為，相比十蚊店的，無印的手帕比較大條，抹手擦汗時更得心應手。有時，妹妹旅行也以手帕相贈作手信。
手帕的款式也夠花多眼亂吧。淨色、格仔布和圓點是基本。Fancy的可選擇「以畫入巾」，如扮野可選「星夜」款，雖有糟蹋名畫之嫌。此外，手帕質料應以純綿為佳，吸汗嘛！絲質的還是留給blue blood如王大法官女兒之流。
手帕於我也可說是半個護身符。以之抹拭，於適時為我保持清潔，默默無怨的把穢物吸收。所以，就算沒有時間，我情願把其他衣服丟在一旁，也要把手帕熨好。只要挺直的它躲在我的褲袋，安全感便會油然而生了。

The Old Chap - 20090921
Ryan Giggs, who would turn 36 this November, became the spotlight once again, during the Manchester derby.
Most of the people, including myself, have given the verdict that Giggsy's golden period has long gone. It is undoubtedly true. However, he really becomes a smarter player.
Long-hailed for his rocket speed and dazzling dribbling, Giggs was the then Cristiano Ronaldo. Giggs has been ruling the left field of Red Devils for nearly two decades. His solo against the Gunners in the FA cup semi-final, a perennial nightmare to Vieira, should be vividly remembered by every football fans.
Aging is the inevitable fate to living ones, there is no exception to Giggs. With the explosive power drying up in the tank, Giggsy could hardly outplay his rivals by sheer speed. He has been locked in the fiddle for a while. However, the problem seems to have been solved. By dashing to the baseline in a very selectively basis, Giggsy would instead smartly team up with Evra, who could supplement the swiftness in need. In addition, thanks to the vintage experience, Giggsy became a sublime passer, his assist to Owen in yesterday's match against Man City was a good example. Though his quickness may has been dampened by age, Giggs' stamina to a 90 minutes match is not a problem. To me he even seems to have better performance in latter part of games.

小師妹明天 last day了，要到澳洲 working holiday。
小師妹是一個很可愛的小妹妹。當今天香港早已變成文明的蠻夷 - - - 只講科技，不談禮貌。小師妹的教養實在是鳳毛麟角。你還可以想像有同事每天都和你真誠地講早晨說再見嗎？小師妹便做到了。所以，要感謝她為公司帶來像日本一樣的工作氣氛。
小師妹是一個很 candid 的小妹妹。在爾虞我詐的工作間，小師妹還能夠開心見誠向同事透露自己是新移民；還有，小師妹更將她小時候偷吃雞屎忘記擦咀角而被揭破的趣事與人分享。我深信，有很多香港人聽了這些事情心裡都會冷笑，但我卻很享受了。

Social Gathering - 20090919
There are no less opportunities of social gathering in our everyday life. Colleagues, secondary school classmates, net friends etc. could easily be targets to fill up our hollow time. However, how many occasions could the gathering be adjudicated as happy? Or at least, comfortable?
Most of the time, these gatherings would become nonchalant inquisition of unimportant objects. Say, in a dinner among colleagues, they would single out someone not present, and attack him or her in irrational grounds, in order to avoid dead air. Sometimes, by involving in the onslaught, we may fulfill the part we missed in our oral period. However, the feeling doesn't last.
The situation would be much worse if you don't drink. Even if the gathering is boring to death, if you are holding some alcoholic stuff, it could be your haven. By gulping the intoxicating beverage into your stomach, it could help you shutting the surrounding noise and lighten your mind and soul. Thus you just can't disagree why Aldous Huxley advocated the use of psychedelic drugs.
So, it should be truly grateful if you could really enjoy some gatherings, no matter with your family or friends. As we grow up, time is more precious and could not be wasted in those pointless gatherings with the acquaintances you could not care less.

舊街市 - 20090918
消委會的「街市行情指數」反映，不同地區街市物價高低迴異。西貢及沙田最貴；東區及大埔最平。
逛街市是一項非常有趣的活動。時代變遷，街市的面貌亦大有不同。
小時候，常常和媽媽行石湖墟舊街市。舊街市座落於海禧華庭現址，由不同類型的檔口組合而成，有臨時的、固定的，雜亂無章。
每當到了舊街市的入口，定必會心跳加速。因為，凍肉店「開正門口」！小時候太貧窮了，看到凍肉店那大堆由淺紅至深紅的肉 - - - 雞脾、肉丸以至紅腸，便如餓狗，流晒口水。最興奮是看見媽媽買火腿。那時金妹牌獨立包裝的火腿是神品；我們退而求其次，只會買散裝火腿。當店員把火腿用蠟紙包好，交到媽媽手上後，我便盼望著是夜的火腿煎蛋了。
行入一點，雞鴨檔的禽獸叫個不停。除了普通貨色，以前還有鷓鴣、穿山甲等野味善價待沽。可恨那濕漉漉的環境，加上禽糞及異味，還有雞鴨行刑時的拍翼尖叫聲，最叫人難受。
捱過了禽獸的折磨，豬肉檔、菜檔和魚檔等便會無秩序地展現眼前。和現今的同類店舖相比，它們並沒有大不同。豬肉佬依舊的大聲叫賣、五彩繽紛的蔬果依舊的刺激視覺、大魚頭依舊的咬著發泡膠價錢牌靜候知音。
行完街市，肚皮響了，是時候到大排檔開餐。石湖墟舊街市的大牌檔有花多眼亂的美食。大明苑的粥品及油器、合興的雲吞牛腩米都是最地道的美食，可惜，不知何故，都悄悄的在搬到新街市後結業了。反而，賣燒味的新記依然健在。儘管現在的雞飯無雞味，也只是冰鮮雞作怪，非戰之罪也；新記的其他出品還是水準依然 - - - 燒肉還是脆卜卜的。林德記更越戰越勇，嘗一碗雞翼牛腩米分分鐘要等上半小時。

Lost of a Manga Artist - 20090917
Usui Yoshito (臼井儀人), the artist of a popular manga, Crayon Shin-chan (蠟筆小新), was reported lost during a hike. Mr Yoshito was suspected to have committed suicide.
Crayon Shin-chan was such a funny comic which made me addicted after a few pages have been flipped. Minimally stroked and simplistically drawn in 2-D, technically speaking, the manga could hardly be described as sophisticated. However, with the characters smartly positioned, Crayon Shin-chan became a great hit at once.
Nohara Shinnosuke (野原新之助) is the protagonist of the manga. Being a kindergarten student, Sinnosuke is a little boy with a man's mind. Lustful to all the beautiful ladies, Shinnosuke would not miss any chance to flirt. Though most of the time Shinnosuke's rendezvous would be spoilt by his mum, he would never give up. Readers just hope that David would eventually beat Goliath.
Crayon Shin-chan is especially popular among girls. With all the filthy jokes concealed under the sweetcoat of kawaii characters, girls could unleash the sexual taboo through unstoppable laughters. Say, Shinnosuke would describe his penis as an elephant, his father's a mammoth and his grandfather's a white hair mammoth. What an ego and a pair of sharp eyes Shinnosuke has gotten!
Anyway, everything has gone, gone.

做義工 - 20090916
公司又搞高層與低層吹水會，每組須推舉一位低層代表參加。老細發電郵誠徵勇士，未夠半小時，勇士名字旋即到達秘書手上。
香港仔女真醒目，索到朕除即刻飛身霸位。
有同事天真地說，很開心有勇士挺身而出，不然她害怕被指派上場，成為烈士。我心想，老細收到大把電郵回覆想做代表啦。
很多人口頭說做這些義工是苦差，既浪費時間亦沒有成果。但是，在一些詭異的地方，當質素高下不再有人能夠(或需要)分辨，自然有其他indicators去衡量表現。例如對公司的投入感。
如果發覺出席吹水會、在annual dinner天才表演、扮多拉A夢做司儀、幫條team搞康樂活動 . . . . . . 都沒有蝕底的感覺；反之，每當受到老細欽點時，便有一股暖流，徐徐從丹田湧進五臟六腑，最後灼熱心頭。人，便踏出成功上位第一步了。
可惜我年紀大反應慢，想回應老細隻貓時，勇士早已成功搶灘了。

The Anniversary of Financial Tsunami - 20090915
A year ago, the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers started the snowball, named "Financial Tsunami", rolling. Today, many of the scholars and pundits, though, are pessimistic of the future, little seems to have been changed.
Looking at our big brother, US. The eloquent president Barack Obama keeps on talking the need of state regulation on the financial market. He murmurs the greediness of Wall Street bankers and their unethically high salaries. However, a year is over, the US Congress has yet to pass any new law on the area concerned.
Then we turn to Hong Kong. Our CE is preparing his policy address. As usual, there must be a grand blueprint, together with something like 6 aspects, 5 focus and 4 infrastructure projects . . . Anyway, no ordinary Hong Konger would treat it serious, as those vision could be vanished without notice, like 85,000.
So, through continuous puffing, we would obviously live in a better world.

Kim Clijsters - 20090914
根據華文譯名，叫佢克莉絲達絲，得；克莉依斯特耳絲，都得。不過，崇洋及懶惰的我還是稱她Kim好了。
Kim退休產女復出即摘下美網女單冠軍，直落兩盤輕鬆幹掉「丹麥曲琪」Wozniacki，可喜可賀。
從來不喜歡看女子網球。和男子相比，可觀性差太遠了。最令人討厭的，是Grand Slams男女獎金相等。但明明男單五局三勝、女單三局兩勝。脅於女權淫威，及男女平等的藉口，無人挺身指責，也就只好作罷。
女子網球不好看的地方有很多。移動慢、對搓少、無winners、經常發球雙錯誤 . . . . . . 所以，大細威憑那女生男相的天賦異稟，至今還能靠一舖牛力強姦民女、作威作福。為免受暴力感染，我輩唯美斯文球迷只好轉台。
看過Kim復出後的賽事不多，但至少予人感覺穩健。觀乎Kim與細威美網四強賽事，Kim不怕細威牛力，雙手反拍更處上風。無怪打到細威輸掉頭局，在第二局中段更要除下庸俗大耳環「減磅」比賽。可惜敗象已呈，整色整水無補於事。於第二局末段細威犯下foot fault，更老羞成怒，指罵司線員，以致再被罰分，最終輸掉球賽。事後細威拒絕道歉兼被罰款，丟人現眼不在話下。
Kim從來都只是比利時二號球手，復出短短個多月已能贏得大滿貫賽事。結論有二：其一是現今女網球手實太不堪；此外，如果比利時一姐Justine Henin都復出，豈不橫掃球壇？
說到底，還是疊埋心水，今晚等睇Federer捧杯好過。

Less is More - 20090913
An industrial accident occurred in ICC, 6 workers free-fell to death, from 30/F to 10/F.
Our CE, again, arrived at the scene in person, gibberished a lot of meaningless consolating words. Anyway this kind of naive gesture repeats endlessly, we are numb to it. Isn't it enough for the minister of labour alone to handle the incident?
However, one of the most hypocritical things is about CE's dressing. In ICC, he wore a white shirt, with sleeves rolled up, together with a pair of mediocre grey trousers and a black belt with a daddy-type buckle. The whole look was too familiar with us, that this is the typical everyday Hong Kong uncles costume. Not to the point still. Today was the commencement of new horse racing season. Our CE was the officiating guest of the opening ceremony. From the TV news, CE was seen meticulously dressed in suit, together with his trademark bow-tie. So, CE was in Shatin racecourse at about 12:30pm, and then to ICC at about 3pm. The tinkering regarding CE's image was a little too much for me.
No matter how many tricks our government plays, none could be of the same weight from the vice chairman of Sun Hung Kai - - - $1M to each and every sufferer of the accident.

Sacha Baron Cohen - 20090912
今早看了Bruno，笑撚死。
地鐵廣告公司稱因Bruno的廣告中文字眼惹人暇想，繼而抽起，有錢不賺。連淫審處批准的東西也被拒，難道聞肚社員已滲透其中？
好一個Sacha Baron Cohen，劍橋歷史系畢業的猶太人，thesis題目是關於猶太人在美國人權運動的參與。但是，在Bruno裡，Sacha係一個夢想成為繼希特拉後最出名的奧地利基佬，為出位到中東「斡旋」，說要射殺猶太人云云！歷史包袱，似乎不是東西，Sacha應該是一個globalist。
言論自由真好。Bruno雖然會被不同的低能人士標籤為反基、反美、反智、反黑人、甚至反猶！但是，電影在文明社會不會被禁上畫。明事理的人都知道Sacha只是玩弄不同的灰色地帶及禁忌，挑釁觀眾罷了。
我會用hilarious形容Bruno。尤其是不同的撚雀場面實在爆笑。有真實的條條fling，有各式各樣的道具陽具，而最精彩的絕對是同隻鬼把撚果幕！而領養非洲bb，仲要叫OJ，就既撚化黑人又寸埋白人啦。

Life as a Movie - 20090911
A woman, webnamed "Minnie Tong Tong" (MTT), was crazy for having a baby boy. She executed a plot to grab one. Though she failed, and was convicted of manslaughter and related offences, the story itself was so fascinating that I could not help recording it down.
MTT, a married 27-year-old woman, would love to have a baby boy with her husband. Rumoured to has been miscarriage twice, I suspect she could have slim chance to bear another one in her life. However, to realize her dream, she had a plot in her mind.
First, MTT deceived a doctor successfully for a medical certificate of pregnancy. Then, she deceived her colleague, who was also pregnant, for the ultrasound image of her foetus. Afterwards, she deceived her husband by letting him seen that ultrasound image, and misled him that she was carrying their baby. Throughout the plan, she wrapped towel around her waist to pretend pregnancy. To get the pregnancy leave, MTT deceived her employer by showing the medical cert. which she acquired fraudulently.
So, after a series of lie, MTT got the medical leave to go ahead for the baby-hunting.
She searched for her baby boy in the internet. After several unsuccessful trials, either the other women were bearing baby girls or accompanied by friends, MTT eventually got her prey. Before execution, MTT equipped herself the craftsmanship of "C-section" from the cyber space, which later became the evidence of her mens rea of the convictions.
The time has come, the 26-year-old victim was received by MTT at home. After routine gossiping, MTT struck the first blow. She strangled the victim to unconsciousness, then ripped her stomach by a 18.5 cm knife, though unsuccessfully, the wound was deep enough to reveal the placenta. Frightened by unknown reason, MTT revoked her plan and ran away. The victim was, luckily, stay alive. However, the baby boy passed away of complications 6 months later.
This is simply another example to prove that we human beings are bloody animals, and conscience is a bonus when you discover one.

早餐 - 20090910
刀刀經常囉唆，說我吃的早餐太肥膩了。
茶餐廳是我日常吃早餐的地方。兩片多士、一碗炸菜米粉，偶爾會轉吃餐包加牛肉通粉，但摯愛奶茶必是鐵膽。不會否認這些東西不健康，但是，「一日之計在於辰」，不吃飽肚子實在沒有氣力工作；加上我不吃零食，勤做運動，應該可以抵銷「罪過」吧？
冬天可選擇的早餐種類比夏天多。夏天太熱，沒有冷氣的地方實擠不下，如大排擋。反之，冬天便可隨心所欲了。熱辣辣的粥，另加炒米粉或炸兩，已可令人滿足半天。有時，換換口味，熱豆漿及粢飯也是心水。
慣了早些出門，可有更多時間嘆早餐。除了食物，餐廳環境亦很重要。廣成是首選。幾十年老餐室，樓底特高，牆身還掛上一幅惠州親友送上的荔枝水墨，古色古香。坐一會，呷幾口奶茶，精神爽利！但是，幫襯廣成，也只限閒日七時三刻前。因為，它老早是上水景點，等食要派飛。
儘管連鎖快餐店的食物質素已經不差，如大家樂的銀針粉也美味。但它的死穴，是永遠不能提供一種「服務」，叫情調 - - - 一種買少見少的東西。

Library Abuse - 20090909
When there is a suspected notebook theft case occurs inside the CityU library, security guards will request readers to open their bags for search. The practice is outrageous.
Even police officers could only conduct search if the target is of "suspicious manner" (http://www.hklii.org/hk/legis/en/ord/232/s54.html). However, inside the university library, most of the normal readers, assumed to be educated, could hardly be described as "suspicious". Unfortunately, once you carry a bag, security guards would request for search to each and every one of us indiscriminately. In addition, those persons conducting the search are only security guards, their authority is highly dubious. Thus, I would conclude the one thing which is of "suspicious manner", is the conduction of search itself.
It is unacceptable for such thing to be happened repeatedly in an university's library. Even worse, CityU have their own law faculty. How could such prima facie human right abuse be neglected then? I have at least experienced that kind of search three times. It would be very unlikely that all of the teaching staff and students from the law faculty are ignorant to this practice. But still, it seems to be approvingly tolerated.
It is a common sense that every body should keep an eye on their own personal belongings, especially the valuable ones. Others bear no responsibility to their property loss. It would be unfair for most of us to suffer from subsequent security guards' harassment. We readers have the legitimate expectation of peaceful enjoyment of the library. So please stop this search practice at once.

吊鹽水 - 20090908
道聽途說，各行各業各式各樣打工仔女皆有「吊鹽水」跡象。
「吊鹽水」真是一個有趣的形容詞。需要它，可能是小病初癒，身體有點虛弱，以此保充養份，用途還算正面；反之，更多的時候，「吊鹽水」的對象是個半生不死，群醫朿手無策的病人，以之吊住條命仔。
只怪政府沒有想像力，死攬高地價政策不放，以致其他行業未能健全發展。曾經，我們想做中藥港、科技港、教育港、更甚的還有外國邪惡勢力吹棒的「紐倫港」。但最大問題是，乜港物港結果都係得個講。所以，我們惟有繼續靠賣地賣樓「吊鹽水」。
相比政府的「一招了」，我輩打工仔女「吊鹽水」的方式卻是多到「你估佢唔倒」。有人被迫放40日無薪假期，有人的OT多過正常返工時間，個個都要擦鞋 . . . 最absurd例子是，有人返工無野做、準時收工出糧，但係轉唔到工！這般「吊鹽水」法，也算最幸運了。
唉，但總不能任意拔喉吧。

Quiting the Legislature - 20090907
Hong Kong Civic Party yesterday made the proposal that in order to fight for universal suffrage, the pan-democratic alliance, which holds 23 seats in the Legislature, should quit together. What a Don Quixotic suggestion.
Nickname the "Rich Party", the legislative councillors from Hong Kong Civic Party would not suffer any economic hardship by quitting the "debating forum", as they are barristers or professional-sort-of. However, they should be compassionate with others situation.
Taking Wong Sing Chi of the Democratic Party of Hong Kong as an example. He once lost his seat in the Legislature and has said that his live was difficult then. His wife was a chronic patient and his son was young. So, could he bear the idea of losing his seat and the huge income again? Remember, everything is expensive in Hong Kong.
And without a second guess, Fung Kin Kee, the representative from ADPL opposed the move. He said the suggestion itself has not been enquired and thus it was undemocratic. Fung is claimed to be a registered social worker. If he waives his seat, it may not be that easy for him to find a job in the field of social work. Recalling the example of YWCA, which Tsang Tak Shing was suspected to intercept its internal affairs recently.
According to Maslow's hierarchy of needs, without the physiological need to be fulfilled, how can we talk about self-actualization, something like universal suffrage or democracy?

西貢食海鮮 - 20090906
昨晚和刀刀及老友到西貢食海鮮，樂而忘返。
說也奇怪，雖然自小便很喜歡吃蝦蟹，但是到這「馳名中外」的美麗小市鎮晚宴，竟也是頭一次。
晚上七時到步，老友們正在和碼頭相鄰的餐廳「Sai」，對著個海，嘆緊杯凍飲。這間「Sai」的環境和氣氛真是一流。餐廳和海之間，有一行人路相隔。正常情況下這行人路應該會對餐廳氛圍打折扣。但是，正因為這裡是西貢，所有人都變成了閒人 - - - 出海玩的、拖狗散步的、幫襯艇戶買海鮮的，構成一幅既熱鬧卻又悠閒的圖畫。加上日落西斜，暗紅的大咸蛋黃掛在半空更是畫龍點睛。當魂魄從美景中返回肉身，醒起是夜主角是海鮮，「Sai」還是留待下回分解好了。
西貢的海鮮酒家，競爭非常激烈。代表各店號的店員手持食譜，瞓身向遊人派發餐單。廁身其中情況尤如走到澳門手信街，卻奇怪地拿到一疊疊旅行社的旅遊單張！在「以平為本」的準則下，加上四眼叔叔的咀頭，我們嚴選了「金輝」開餐。
「金輝」座落海旁，我們選了戶外餐桌用膳。天朗氣清，氣溫亦不算高得不能接受，在此輕鬆舒適的環境，呷幾口啤酒，和老友們胡亂吹水，一樂也！更逢「大王」安德尊路過，我們也真是行運！撞到明星喎 . . . 言歸正傳，食物一流，蟶子、鮑魚、龍蝦仔都是新鮮貨色。椒鹽瀨尿蝦更是一絕！啖之以啤酒，也真是無憾了。
吃完「金輝」，再到「滿記」吃糖水。人多，店外蟑螂也不少。味道公式，不提也罷。倒是乘車離開前到碼頭逛逛，發覺儘管微風輕拂，波光粼粼，但在璀璨的酒家燈火下，天上的星星卻相形見拙，只剩下三、四顆在苟延殘喘了。
香港還有未受光污染的星空嗎？

You Must Be Kidding - 20090905
Obama's daughter was "caught red-handed" in the oval office, seemed to be playing hide-and-seek with his father over there.
The photo was compared with the one of Kennedy's, which Kennedy Jr was hidden under the president's desk.
To me, this kind of cheap trick is sub-par. Such blatant copying is a prima facie violation to intellectual property right, if there is still any living body left in the Kennedy clan to claim with. Anyway, "Pioneer the genius, follower the mediocrity".
In addition, when comparing the two photos, the Kennedy's one is surely more "authentic" than Obama's. Kennedy Jr, being curious, wandered into the oval office when it was vacant. Tired, the little boy slept under the desk. Once he woke up, he noticed that papa was working on the desk and he was thus spellbound! So, the story could be made up more reasonable. However, regarding Obama's one, the little daughter was more like paparazzi. But, it is the White House! I suspect the security could not be so fragile that even the president's daughter could never come in the oval office like Taliban's guerilla, even worse together with a photographer! It's faker than the fakest.

燒街衣 - 20090904
近日晚上回家，樓下行人路「灰煙四起」，原來又是舊曆七月了。
家裡已經很多年沒有拜神燒衣。回想對上一次，要幫媽媽手祭祀，已經是很遙遠的事了 . . . 大概是小學吧。
摺疊衣紙，是一件很無聊的事。那一疊疊的東西，顏色紛陳，圖案曖昧；而衣紙的質地，不論厚薄，都非常粗劣。當你把衣紙摺疊好後，滿手都會拈滿褪落的紫色和金粉。看見必破口大罵：仆你個街 . . . 因此，通常我都會把此重任暗地裡留給妹妹。
把整理妥當的衣紙、九江雙蒸、一些米飯及紅彤彤的「餐具」袋好後，媽媽、妹妹和我便會出發到樓下「作法」。其實，「作法」只是落公園玩的藉口吧。雖然小時候我也怕鬼，但從來也質疑這些微薄祭品的效用。尤其是現今全球一體化，流落香江的西洋鬼又豈會滿足於九江雙蒸呢？
燒街衣的人，和從前相比，也真少了很多。因為，隨隨便便也可以想到各式各樣的理由去摒棄燒街衣 - - -
公式理由：要忙的事情太多了！

CJ - 20090903
The Honorable Chief Justice Li announced his plan of early retirement in September 2010 yesterday. Everybody is shocked.
Having been worked as s support staff in the Judiciary, I have seen CJ in person, under the occasions of the presentation ceremony of long and meritorious service awards, as well as the Judiciary day camp.
I must say, CJ bears the impeccable look as the Chief Justice.
Being a tall man, CJ is always meticulously dressed, with the saville row suit perfectly put on. Educated in Cambridge, with a LLM under his belt, CJ is a gentleman, with the scholar aura exulted in any situation. With his full and undyed silver hair neatly combed, and a pair of thin metal-rimmed spectacles elegantly hung on his face, CJ is the totem of the Judiciary.
With such a gentleman representing the Judiciary of Hong Kong, its independence is unworried beyond reasonable doubt. The case regarding rights of abode was iconic, though regrettably overturned by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress ultimately. It nevertheless proved the stiffness of CJ's backbone.
We will miss him.
P.S. 林兆鑫 was sentenced to 25 months imprisonment re his conviction of "misconduct in public office". We should be proud of our judicial independence.

暴力與孤獨 - 20090902
上周六看了 Tarantino 的 《Inglourious Basterds》，非常有趣；剛掃過蔣勳的《孤獨六講》中關於暴力的章節，巧合地解釋了為何每次看 Tarantino 都會過癮。

從《Reservoir Dogs》開始，到今天的《Inglourious Basterds》，暴力從來都是 Tarantino 的主題。非理性的連鎗掃射，在仆街們前額畫押等，看了都忍不住狂笑起來。基於電影禮儀，我已經將個「爽」字埋藏心底，沒當場叫喊出聲。
想到女士們，一邊看一邊叫「哎呀！」「噫 . . .」，一邊扮用雙手蓋上眼睛，另一邊卻又從手指夾縫目不轉睛偷看 . . . 這便說明，男與女對暴力同樣感興趣，只是掩飾程度有別。

蔣勳在《孤獨六講》中談到，人由獸進化，過程中為禮教馴化。因此，我們不能抹殺人有獸性，它只是被文明規範起來。所以，否認獸性，完全服膺於禮的，只是失去獨立批判性的羊群。
Tarantino 的電影恰好每次都勾起人的獸性。動物鏈清楚告訴我們世界的運作 - - - 弱肉強食。所以，殺戮能產生快感是不能否定的，這是與生俱來的求生本能。

Licking the West Again - 20090901
The Chinese government has appointed Kristofer Schipper to coordinate the translation of "Five Classics".
It is quite amazing that, New China, with so many hardworking students so fervent of studying good English, and has manufactured tones of TOEFL perfect scorers, has still not got enough qualified translation experts, according to our almighty Communist party.
The news must at first be excitingly criticized by those "shit youngsters" in the web, and subsequently be "river-crabized" by the web Gestapo within 24 hours.
Following suit the bombing is boring, say, we have enough seasoned Chinese translators, like 黃國彬. Many people know it.
Anyway, the target group of readers of the translated version of "Five Classics" should be foreigners. Thus, the Chinese-seen-as-mistakes of the translation should be of no problem with the western readers, as they are of the same mindset as the translators. On the contrary, appointing overseas translators could avoid the repetition of embarrassment appeared in Chinese food menu, said "river powder" as "河粉".
In the end, however, by trying to save face in this microscopic point, the appointment itself is a big smack in our face, and becomes another one of million evidences of licking the West.
