昨天，香港馬頭圍道冧樓；今天，日本豐田及本田分別因技術問題回收上百萬汽車。
香港及日本，產品質素之高人所共知。如今，連它們的製品也有如斯大問題，我們還能用甚麼貨色，才能安心？
馬頭圍道之樓宇倒塌，懷疑是地舖裝修，工人鑽破主力牆所致。未看見圖片時，最多只能想像樓房向前後左右傾斜，最壞也是如大陸樓般整棟「瞓低」吧？一看新聞，嘩！該舊樓是粉身碎骨般化作一大堆瓦礫的，實在超乎想像。無怪乎蘋果以之類比世貿。平心而論，如此冧樓至今為止，死者僅數位，當是不幸中之大幸。
至於日本兩大汽車公司之大規模回收，更叫人詫異。豐田之剎車腳踏失靈，及本田的車頭玻璃滲水，都不是我們印象裏日本產品應有的表現。當我諗商學位時，豐田建立的Quality Cycle是管理學的尖端。遇到問題，個別工作小組立時討論，以最快最靈活的方法解決。可是，從是次回收，是否揭櫫Quality Cycle有盲點？
無論如何，準不能因而全情擁抱大陸貨吧？

Prejudice - 20100129
One of the biggest lies in the prevailing time is to sweep away stereotype, by advocating neutrality and open-mindedness.
Taking mainlanders as an example. What traits could we think of them? Rude! As Chinese would never say thank you when others help them. The descendants of dragon would always treat others help as service provided . Greedy! As mainlanders love all those tricks to make money, like bribe and speculation. Cats are good ones if it could catch mice, no matter it is black or white. Hypocritical! While seeing foreigners with fair hair and skin, Chinese would always be on bended knees. At the same time, they would treat their own people of the coolest smile, if any. Their eyes would be elevated to their forehead, or even higher than the arch.
Anyone openly saying the above would be criticised as prejudicial. The righteous ones would dismiss stereotype and stress on individuality. Right, right, right, principally. However, personal experience tells me the contrary. Intuition is the most accurate and efficient means to judge upon others' disposition.
By blindly entrusting the exaggerated effect of those rare cases, we could indeed have wasted a lot of time, as well as affiliation.

白果咒 - 20100128
正常地，凌晨二時三十分，理應夜闌人靜，人人好夢正酣。此時，會有甚麼聲音？似乎不多 - - - 零星的飛車、九十後偶爾聚集的叫囂 . . . 烏鴉還未夠鐘長嗚吧？人若未睡，最大機會聽到的，還是汪汪的回音，又或是爛泥的鼻鼾聲吧。
一月廿七日晚，如常地於十二時多入睡。平日，會一覺假死到天明。只是，一月廿七日晚，是奇怪的一晚。
「啪、嘭，啪、嘭 . . . 」這兩粒聲音，毫不含糊地、持續地，畫破無聲的深夜。家裡被吵醒的，少說有兩人。究竟，在凌晨二時三十分，「啪、嘭」的幹啥呢？原來，漁夫在鎚白果煲粥。「啪」的一聲，白果應聲破殼而出，聲音沉實有緻，是絕佳的前奏。「嘭 」的一聲如何製造？白果殼破裂，當要即時取出新鮮果肉。原本右手拿鎚，就在此刻放下。鐵鎚頭與地面碰撞，縱是隔著報紙，「嘭」聲還是透過地板傳到寐頭，錐心蝕骨。以為忍一時風平浪靜？漁夫像要把世間所有的銀杏破開，「啪、嘭」聲就是此起彼落，不肯消逝。
驚醒，翻睡本不難。只是，憤怒、疑問、毛躁等等千堆煩惱湧上心頭，思潮起伏，就是心經也未能撫平。最後，要待至三時半才能再入眠。至今奇怪，吃那麼多白果，人還未中毒？

What a Pity, Rafa - 20100127
Yesterday, while trailed two sets to love, Nadal retired from the quarterfinal match against Murray. Rafa's right knee was injured and his movement was obviously hindered then.
I just managed to back home and watched the match when it was approaching the end of second set. Both players smashed the ball outrageously hard and demonstrated a scintillating rivalry. The level of tennis shown was transcendent, equivalent to those classic matches between Federer and Nadal.
So, Murray could not be underestimated. This guy could fire up first serve that exceeds 210 km per hour. When his serve is on, it could hardly be broken, unless the player at the other end is as voracious as Rafa. Murray's defence is all along famous. He seems to be more happy when his opponent is attacking. Once adapted to the bullets, Murray constantly produces cross-court-counter-attack-winners. Although I never like his playing style, if Murray could maintain the playing level I've witnessed, he could have a good chance to lift the trophy of AO.
Rafa deserves the applause, too. His fighting spirit, rooted deeply in his Spanish DNA, could easily contaminate spectators as well as TV watchers. Cultivated as a gentleman, Rafa has never lost his self-control on court, no matter how daunting the situation is . After this match, Rafa said the lesson learnt from his previous injury was not to push himself across limit. Hopefully he would not be affected by the newly-acquired hurt for too long, and get back to court before the clay season starts.

午膳時份，天色灰沉。獨個兒下樓，推門外出，寒風漫沁。登時立定主意，到「飯堂」之一的鴻記燒腊吃「例牌」叉燒燒肉飯，填飽肚子。
牛頭角地方雖小，但美食不缺。無他，舊市區，能生存經年的店舖必有水準。如黃興記便有最美味的豬手撈麵了。鴻記是另一佳例。店位於定業街，左鄰右里都是些修車店，一般文員根本不會路經此地。只有我此等好漫遊者，才能發掘到它。
儘管隔涉，午飯時間，鴻記不是全滿，也坐客九成。油淋污穢是一般燒腊店的通病，鴻記卻可敬地不在此列。店面光猛整潔，燒腊排列井然有致。店舖主要由二男一女負責。兩位壯漢，白頭叔叔是店的大腦，落屙打、盛湯載飯、收錢，一身兼數職；光頭叔叔主理燒脂。阿姐則負責傳菜、收錢及樓面清潔。間歇會見白頭叔叔的老父、老母甚至讀初中的小兒幫手。典型的小本家庭生意是也。
坐下，例湯旋即送到，此之為真效率。此處的例湯不比一般燒腊店的死鹹，如今天的白菜湯者，混入新鮮與晒乾白菜，煲之以賣剩燒肉燒骨，鹹鮮俱備。不久，「例牌」送到。半肥瘦叉燒最是誘人，香甜軟滑，味道非現今流行瘦柴叉燒可比擬；燒肉外皮必脆，肉也有咬勁。鴻記亦不吝嗇配菜。大白菜最佳，淡淡甜味能中和燒腊之膩；就是普通菜心，亦不給老貨色。吃個飽，放下廿二塊錢便行，忍不住驚嘆今夕何夕！

Game Theory - 20100125
The application of game theory could never be under-estimated in our daily life. Everyone could be trapped easily in the losing end.
The classic Prisoner's Dilemma demonstrates how game theory works. Two suspects, A and B, are being investigated by the police. If either one betrays the other while the remaining one stays silent, betrayer would be acquitted and the one who eats the humble pie would get a 10-year sentence. If both of them zip their mouths up, they would only get milder sentence for trivial charge, say 6 months. If both of them attack each others, 5 years imprisonment are awaiting for the two accomplices. Thus, ideally, silence would be the best option for them to choose together. However, selfishness and distrust don't allow us to do so.
One of real life situation is like this. Dozen of colleagues attend a meeting together. The meeting ends at 3:30pm, whilst the official off hour should be 5:45pm. The travelling time between office and the meeting venue is 45 minutes. As such, legally speaking, colleagues should get back to office and resume working in their respective cubicles at 4:15pm. However, if the meeting is to be attended by merely one person, no other colleagues know the meeting finish time, this person would naturally set himself free at 3:30pm, without one second of hesitation.
Game theory chips in when the number of participants increases. When more people know the truth, everybody suspects against one and other, everyone is afraid to be betrayed and thus, nobody is willing to take the risk for enjoyment of the early day off. At the end of the day, all suffer.

安格斯漢堡 - 20100123
Burger King新出的安格斯漢堡，傳聞好吃，於是今晚一試。
Burger King是崔護重來了。在還是小學時，Burger King曾在香港徘徊了一陣，她還有中文名，曰「漢堡飽王」。那時，本地漢堡飽店百花齊放。除了最討厭但又間中幫襯的老麥外，還有Jack in the Box的高檔貨、哈廸斯嫩滑的牛仔芝堡、Wendy's等等 . . . 後來都被老麥擊倒了。
之後，漢堡飽市場被老麥獨攬了一陣。但是，這三兩年，漢堡飽熱又升溫了。除了新連鎖店如Mos Burger、Triple Os外，也有些小店賣精緻貨如和牛漢堡、龍蝦漢堡等。千其百怪，應有盡有。而Burger King亦重新登陸本地。初時小心奕奕，只在機場牛刀小試；及後建立口碑，便在港九新界登陸繁衍。
說回今晚於尖沙咀店吃的安格斯漢堡，肥膩重於一切。那飽像是過厚，致令加熱時飽心未有熱透。安格斯漢堡本身很乾，要佐燒汁及番茄製造juicy感。可是，那燒汁太濃綢了。吃第一口時，尚覺惹味。可是，往後每啖一口，飽滯指數便以幾何級數上升，到尾已有想吐的感覺。直至現在，過了差不多三小時，肚子仍撐著。
看來，還是留待坐飛機前才再吃Burger King了。

From Delay, to Out of Service - 20100122
Yesterday train service in the East Rail line was struck for an hour. I was lucky enough to be one of the ten thousands affected. Though the incident did create a little mess, and my trip back home was delayed for an hour, I accept MTR's apology.
The failure of train system started at around 7:30pm. My train stopped at University. At that time, I was taking a nap in a seat, which was something so scarce during the peak hour. Initially, nobody cared when there was an announcement on something like "the train in the prior station was yet to depart, this train would be delayed". However, when time passed, minute by minute, the train just stood there resiliently. Some of the passengers, most of them the standing males, were getting annoyed. Foul languages could easily be heard from the cell phones exchange. One of the guys told his wife, sarcastically, that he could only back home at midnight as Bin Laden has blown up one train. Another middle-age guy, on a hurry to cross the border, yelled at the cell phone for his bad luck.
About 15 minutes passed, the announcement changed to "owing to the signal problem, the train would be temporary out of service". Swarms of passengers rushed for exit. Some of the men, again, in order to vent their anger, pointed fingers at the MTR's staff. Others started to queue up for the shuttle buses. Being held in University, the situation was even worse. Apart from quite a few buses to Ma On Shan, there was virtually no other choice in the bus stop. I chose to climb up the Tai Po Road for either bus or minibus then. Though dozens of others shared the same mind of mine, I stayed for a while, watching every vehicles, in full capacity, slipped pass one by one. Luckily, at around 8:30pm, I received a SMS from Jen that the train service has been resumed and thus I ran back down to catch a train at once! The train was spacious, and the travelling was as swift as usual and I finally got back home at 9:10pm.
The experience was a little bit funny. It could be seen how easily people could be got induced and ignited by others. Thus, the Chinese proverb "don't stay in crowded place" makes sense. In addition, I didn't give a damn on such a short delay. We Hong Kongers are already fortunate enough to have such an efficient railway and such a rare incident should be well tolerable. And finally, the real lesson learnt is, just stay in the train while there is any delay, never follow the stampede as the service would be resumed, in an hour at most.

龜公 - 20100121
海天堂老闆吳耀明登《壹週刊》非常人語，訪問圍繞龜苓膠是否強力如偉哥。
多得海天堂那些「買一送一」的優惠卷，近日媽媽經常「拿」龜苓膏給我品嚐。我家從不好此道，即便要清熱，也煲涼茶居多。以我有限經驗，海天堂的龜苓膏，味道微甘，易於入口，惟實效不明。
吳耀明好比「地茂版」布蘭森。布蘭森說，公司不賣廣告，等於男人在漆黑中和女子調情，縱貌比潘安，她也看不到。吳耀明可算是此話最忠實的執行者。
從那時起，海天堂的廣告變得鋪天蓋地呢？沒十年也八載吧。粉墨登場，是吳耀明的習慣。以前海天堂的廣告，以硬銷為主，甚麼鬼「要食龜苓膏，認住呢撮鬚」；至中後期的，有點故事，如扮家丁點燈。都很庸俗，但沒有誰不認識他。直至最新的龜苓膠廣告，才真教人刮目相看。創意滿分，吳耀明竟想到和黃飛鴻跨越時空聯袂主演；想像無限，由老當益壯的黃師傅耍棍直搗黃龍，誰個不被征服？就是法律上也沒有疑問，因為吳耀明已買下該殘片版權。
人紅招妒在所難免。海天堂大家姐與吳耀明決裂，及後對簿公堂，大家姐數落他自然不過；黃飛鴻後人大喊老父遭醜化，怒不可遏 . . .
儘管我對那些龜苓膏龜苓膠龜苓糖的藥用價值有所保留，但只要沒吃壞人便行了。吳耀明拍廣告，既娛己娛賓，又「活化」古人，他更為廣大市民，在沈悶的巴士火車旅途，平添不少樂趣呢。因此，就算他不能拿最佳廣告男主角，至少也值得成為我最喜愛廣告明星之一吧？

Traffic Accident - 20100120
Yesterday a fatal traffic accident occurred in Sheung Shui. A mother and a son were knocked down by a truck, right outside the entrance of a kindergarten. Mother was dead, and the son was seriously injured.
Perceptually, we would point finger to the truck driver. We think that all truck drivers are careless, or even ruthless. Habitual speeding is their means to early completion of their daily job. Truck drivers are always in a rush to run across the border, for massage and so and so.
However, the Sheung Shui accident could be an exception.
The environment of the scene is prone to accident. According to newspaper report, there are many container sites which surround the kindergarten. Thus, loads of truck with high seat height would commute around. Children from the kindergarten are of tiny size. As a result, truck drivers may have difficulty upon seeing those little boys and girls.
The dead mother may not be used to Hong Kong's road situation. Cars move in opposite direction in China. As recently emigrated from the Mainland for around 6 months, she could have turned her head to left rather than right while crossing the road. So, intuition could be another culprit of the accident.
Lastly, legally speaking, the kindergarten could bear some responsibilities, too. Have reasonable care been taken to the children and parents? The road is full of heavy vehicles, and little children are naughty. So, any signage or arrangement made to facilitate schooling?

驚風散 - 20100119
澳網開鑼，首日已爆冷。寵兒舒拉寶娃在第一圈敗於同胞姬莉蘭高拍下，黯然離場。
儘管舒娃早退，這並不代表女子網球賽的噪音會減低。一邊擊球一邊叫床，是新一輩女球手的習慣。舒娃當然是代表。後起之秀青出於藍，例如艾沙蘭卡、廸比圖等。據分析，她們的嘶叫聲吵比飛機升降。娜華蒂露娃早明言此等叫春形同作弊，反問我們何時聽見費達拿哼半聲？
說到費達拿，已逐漸變成體壇教父。當老虎為桃色新聞豹隱，費天王的地位更見超然。看他為海地地震籌辦的表演賽，於澳網前數天，廿四小時內搞妥，其他網壇大哥大姐如細威拿度等一呼百應。其果斷及地位可見一斑。
只是，近來的費達拿狀態確是有點飄忽。看看他在澳網第一圈的對手 - - - 安祖夫，正是姬莉蘭高的男友。姬莉蘭高在擊倒舒娃後，說曾跟男友在賽前起誓齊齊爆冷。印象中，費達拿於早兩、三年的美網要花五盤才打敗安祖夫。所以，也不能當姬莉蘭高說笑。
今天吃午飯前，看看賽果，費達拿落後一局，第二局領先三比零；飯後又看看：總盤數一比一，第三局費達拿落後六比五。安祖夫發球，差一分便拿下第三局。唔係掛？！內急，往解手，返位再看：費達拿打破安祖夫發球局，第三局要打tie break，費達拿最後拿下這盤。工作至三時，再查看賽果，費達拿第四局竟大炒對手六比零，有驚無險進身次圈。
這麼坐過山車的賽果，實教我等球迷飽吃驚風散。試想想，沒有費達拿的大滿貫是何等的不可思義？
儘管舒娃早退，這並不代表女子網球賽的噪音會減低。一邊擊球一邊叫床，是新一輩女球手的習慣。舒娃當然是代表。後起之秀青出於藍，例如艾沙蘭卡、廸比圖等。據分析，她們的嘶叫聲吵比飛機升降。娜華蒂露娃早明言此等叫春形同作弊，反問我們何時聽見費達拿哼半聲？
說到費達拿，已逐漸變成體壇教父。當老虎為桃色新聞豹隱，費天王的地位更見超然。看他為海地地震籌辦的表演賽，於澳網前數天，廿四小時內搞妥，其他網壇大哥大姐如細威拿度等一呼百應。其果斷及地位可見一斑。
只是，近來的費達拿狀態確是有點飄忽。看看他在澳網第一圈的對手 - - - 安祖夫，正是姬莉蘭高的男友。姬莉蘭高在擊倒舒娃後，說曾跟男友在賽前起誓齊齊爆冷。印象中，費達拿於早兩、三年的美網要花五盤才打敗安祖夫。所以，也不能當姬莉蘭高說笑。
今天吃午飯前，看看賽果，費達拿落後一局，第二局領先三比零；飯後又看看：總盤數一比一，第三局費達拿落後六比五。安祖夫發球，差一分便拿下第三局。唔係掛？！內急，往解手，返位再看：費達拿打破安祖夫發球局，第三局要打tie break，費達拿最後拿下這盤。工作至三時，再查看賽果，費達拿第四局竟大炒對手六比零，有驚無險進身次圈。
這麼坐過山車的賽果，實教我等球迷飽吃驚風散。試想想，沒有費達拿的大滿貫是何等的不可思義？

The Highest Integrity - 20100118
My Highness company issued an ultimatum to all colleagues, regarding the prohibition of surfing Internet during office hours. Offenders are rumoured to be dismissed summarily.
Fine. Superficially all staff should engage in the job but nothing else while they are working. However, by restricting colleagues in such a draconian manner, I don't see there would be any real benefit, in the sense of enhancing corporate efficiency.
HK top management loves those puritan practice. To them, perfect staff should be just like ox, that they should cultivate the land continuously without noise. Nevertheless, human beings are different from other animals. We treasure sentimental connection. Through chatting, writing email etc, we could reprise ourselves from the monotonous work.
Those top management are hypocrites. In order to climb up the career ladder, they stampede for those MBA courses on one hand; however, they betray the courses once get promoted. All the MBA courses stress for people development and retention, and it is suggested that happy colleagues are retained more easily. That's why Western corporates are equipped with gym rooms, or even nap rooms, for staff to recharge themselves. Sadly, theory remains as theory in HK and can rarely be put into practice.
By trying to treat common people as ox, we once again put ourselves in a vicious cycle.

雜說 - 20100117
這幾天，遠至中美，近至中環，有大小不一的事情發生。摘錄如下，聊備一格。
中美洲國家海地發生大地震，官方估計，死亡人數可能達廿萬。以半價算，也死十萬人。只看死亡人數，它比南亞海嘯的廿六萬少，但也比四川大地震的七萬多。因此，相比四川，我們更應捐助海地。
因為海地大地震，香港人也對這小國的認識略增半分。第一，它和台灣有邦交；第二，它比鄰古巴，是加勒比海島國之一，黑人很多；第三，它的首都是太子港。僅此而矣。至於海地和海牙有甚麼不同，海地黑人多的原因，不甚了了。
至於中環，高鐵撥款一如所料，在保皇黨與工能界別力撐下通過。儘管八十後圍堵立法會失敗，他們的義舉也足揭露各路人馬面紗。政府官員的龜縮，在曾特首及鄭局長拒絕與八十後面談的行徑表露無遺；保皇黨氣焰依舊；民主黨頹勢已呈，進退失據。只有長毛質問特首不效法趙紫陽當年會見學生的一句「我來晚了」表現最佳。

Lust for Life - 20100115
Just completed the reading of Lust for Life, a biographical novel written by Irving Stone, on artist Vincent Van Gogh. The extravagant Chinese version, translated by master 余光中, with a lot of Van Gogh's illustrations, attracted my eyesight in a bookstore at first. Subsequently, I borrowed the paperback English version from library.
Reading novel is a funny way to learn a bit of art. Usually, those books on art development are either too technical or informational, and being a layman like me, would find them dull to follow. However, by going through a story, it is way much attractive, to know some terms of art, say from easel to impressionism, as well as to have a glimpse at the context of the emergence of new form of painting in 1800's.
The Van Gogh clan has been maintaining its eminent status in Holland. However, throughout his life, Vincent was one of the rare outcasts, living under destitution and eked his way out through subsidy provided by his brother, Theo. After a short stint of unsuccessful pastoral job, Vincent Van Gogh turned to drawing and painting till his death.
Impressionism was by then seen as a circle of ridicule in Paris. Van Gogh maintained bonding with impressionists, and lived and painted together with Paul Gauguin in the famous Yellow House, though briefly and sourly, and Van Gogh's left ear was cut off at that period of time.
So, those sunflowers and starry nights marvelled by Van Gogh, are with meaning that exceeds chic to me now.

又一漢奸？ - 20100112
華人張磊對美國母校耶魯大學管理學院奉獻888萬8888美元，為該學院歷來單一最高捐款。
網上又擊起大浪，討論張磊行徑是否漢奸。正反相方舌劍唇槍，壁磊分明。聲討漢奸者稱張磊為何寧裏通外國，也不把錢捐回大陸母校中國人民大學；支持張磊者謂錢如捐中國，只白進貪官口袋。
很無謂。譬如，現在廣東道的外國名店如LV、Gucci等終日於門外架起鐵馬，方便國內同胞魚貫進場，把所有名牌東西搜刮得一乾二淨。那麼，憤青是否又會咒罵買外國貨的同胞為漢奸？簡單地說，表單的頂端是否凡中國人把口袋裏的金錢，交到外國人手中，就是漢奸？而其他依靠外國品牌維生的單位，上至特區政府，下至店內清潔工，又是否「亞漢奸」？
其實，每年國內也有大量莘莘學子到耶魯唸書；所以，中國人也定能受惠於張磊的捐款。假設張磊的捐款，無指明受益人士國藉。只要耶魯對收生國藉沒有限制，受益人士理論上是全地球的人，而耶魯只是管理者。情況如信託基金的運作一樣。
反而捐款數目很是奇怪，一看便知捐款者是中國人。由是觀之，張磊並沒忘本。

A Stunning Trail - 20100111
Yesterday I went jogging in Shatin. The 12-km return trip, from Shatin Sports Ground to Science Park, took me under just 1 hour for completion.
This was my second time of running on the Shing Mun bicycle trail. My maiden voyage, which was taken place about two weeks ago, was for the purpose of evasion. I confined myself along the canal then. Yesterday, while the weather was excellent for jogging, I extended the miles and was bestowed the scenery of Tolo Harbour.
Once my stuff was conveniently locked in Shatin Sports Ground, I got my shoestrings tightened and hit on the road. The 18-degree-Celsius temperature and 75 percent humidity was perfect. Though it was a bit cloudy, I could not ask for more. The bicycle trail was smoothly covered, and the slope was constantly flat. Virtually divided into 3 lines, a "To" and "From" lines for bicycles respectively, and the remaining one, albeit narrower, for pedestrians and runners. Some riders, however, would cross the compartment sporadically, and thus runners had to raise an eye while doing their own business.
The scene was stunning. Along Shing Mun River, apartments were neatly arranged on both sides. With river on the right and low construction, say the race course, on the left, the view was wide and clear. When the Marine Police Headquarter was reached, Tolo Harbour was in front of you and suddenly, your front view was broadened from wide to seamless. Feeling the breeze and enjoying the changing of sites, it brought me a brand new experience of jogging.
I suspect I have been hooked to the trail and would go there regularly.

圖書館 - 20100109
城大，從來不是一所研習學問的好大學。看看那連接又一城與大學本部的行人隧道，充斥如廣告般的格言，便見其淺薄。
走進校園，學生很多，面目一般的天真；外人更多，尤其是星期天，cos-play友、外傭、中學生 . . . 喧鬧如街市，比又一城更擠迫。
平心而論，在城大，我也有得著。比方說，一張認授性低但不能欠缺的學位證書、數位好友、而最重要的，當然是女友。還有，令我又愛又恨的，是它的圖書館。
圖書館，應該是每所大學的心臟。課堂學法則，得到啟發，便到圖書館尋寶。如習武者，從秘笈學到心法，也得靠不斷磨鍊，才能滿師，進而成一家之言。圖書館的書海便如磨刀了。城大圖書館，位置便利，在過去三年，我便常於下班後到來溫習，從而完成另一學位。
可是，平常的日子，城大圖書館較像茶餐廳。人委實太多了。他們不是霸佔電腦上網打機，便三五成群的肆無忌憚的嘻嘻哈哈。手電鈴聲也此起彼落 . . . 如要專心，平息毛燥，定得費些工夫。
但於學生休假期，像今天，它便變回一所大學圖書館了。寧靜，是那麼矜貴。 在懶洋洋的星期六下午，一個人，到圖書館看報紙、看雜誌、看書、寫blog，便爽透了。

A Nice Lunch Hour - 20100108
As an ordinary minnow working in a usual office, the chance of exercise is not easily available. Thus, during the lunch break, I always opt for some walks, on my own, in order to wake up from the sedentary work life.
During lunch hour, most of the colleagues would jostle in the busy area in Kwun Tong to fill up their stomachs. However, I usually walk to the opposite direction, towards Ngau Tau Kok, where on one hand, the restaurants are less compact and on the other hand, the serene path to Lok Wah Estate always provides me the refuge for revival.
Walking past the Ngau Tau Kok MTR station and across the Ngau Tau Kok road, the unique Garden Estate is over there. Garden Estate is an old public housing estate, of at least 30 years of history, maybe. Those single-digit-storey apartments, with balconies which are spacious for residents to read, were built for living rather than profit. At the ground floor, there are several lovely HK-styled restaurants. In winter time, those preserved sausages and ducks are hung out of the old-styled siu mei restaurant.
Turning right, the uphill On Sin Road, an entrance to Lok Wah Estate, unravels a different landscape in the concrete forest. Under a 20-metre granite cliff, a cafe built by metal sheets which legal status was gained by adverse possession, I suspect, is another viewpoint. Embraced by self-planted vegetation, the cafe should be a nice place to rest. The owner's pet, a Peking dog, is always the focal point. It would lie on the middle of the road for sunbathing, lazily, without paying much attention to any passer-by. Beside the stairway to Lok Wah Estate, there is a primary school with many South Asia students. I could have a glance of a real melting pot of culture there, somehow.
Walking up the 100-step stairway could help shed sweat, and its amount depends on the temperature. Like today, a chilly winter, my body was just warm enough for my neckerchief to be put off when my feet left the final stairstep. By then a large playground, with balls courts, bicycle training ground and a feet-massage path, emerges. Sauntering towards the arcade, some hairdressers, probably mainland immigrants, do their business under trees. Obviously illegal, however, the cheap price, around $20 for a hair cut, could still solicit some elderlys. I would end up having my lunch in the so-so Cafe de Coral.
After the getaway, with the 30 minutes walk, I am fully revitalized for the afternoon shift.

土共土佬又大放闕詞了。就元旦大遊行衝擊中聯辦一事，土佬誇誇其談：早上說中央感震驚，下午卻說沒其事。害得中央急急派中聯辦主任彭清華為我們定驚。
有評論員認為，土佬如此「出爾反爾」，會影響他的公信力。
放心，這土佬從未有過公信力。
鼠目大鼻，衣著守舊，成天在恤衫外加老套尼龍背心，驟眼望之以為是國民黨員，吊詭地是土共一條。門僮出身，長年親中，適逢其會，游走港英、特區政府夾縫，擔當傀儡，扶搖直上。既是人大代表，又是行會成員，銜頭如水蛇春，豈有不飄飄然之理？
可能腦充血久了，忘了傀儡身分。看見鏡頭，胡亂說話。容或是心急謢主，更可能是狐假虎威，鸚鵡學舌，最後畫虎不成。其實，傀儡者，應沒有思想，受人拉扯擺佈。有一天，當傀儡的身軀，如口部肌肉，不再受支配，傀儡便不成傀儡了。那還有甚麼用？

八十後 - 20100105
數近來最熱門詞彙，「八十後」應佔一席。
「八十後」所指的應該是八十年代後，九十年代前出生，現今廿來歲的一郡年輕人。「八十後」見報頻頻，源於近日各大小不同示威的出位表現，如反高鐵的五區苦行、聲援劉曉波的羅湖衝關等。「八十後」的代表人物是陳巧文。
傳媒大驚小怪道「八十後」離譜，連民主黨也批評他們行為過激。心中嘀咕，這個年紀不激進，還待何時？而且，示威行前些，和警察對峙，作少許身體碰撞，便是過激？我想，至少燒燒車胎，或像南韓人一般自殘身體，才是過激吧。也活該「八十後」道民主黨也是建制派，請他們吃燒乳鴒。像民主黨那樣，只會在議事庭和民建聯吵兩句，連五區總辭都不敢參加，卻又每月穩袋數萬。那麼穩重，既佔道德高地，又過中產生活，左右逢源，但於香港有個屁用？
對我來說，「八十後」是一郡長不大的小孩。香港雖沒如大陸般落實「一孩政策」，但生活迫人，很多家庭，就算肯生兒育女，也對「一孩政策」「陽違陰奉」。「八十後」便是這樣孕育出來的金笸籮。父母親友溺愛，自小沈迷電玩，不善與人溝通。到出來社會工作，發覺同事不會如父母般遷就他們，不是亂發脾氣，便索性辭職不幹。反正在家有父母呵，在facebook有人撐。久而久之，一班怨氣深重的小鬼，便乘電子科技之便，集烏合之眾，到處發洩不滿。
只是，沒有實質理念或理想支撐，我很懷疑「八十後」運動的凝聚力和持久性。看來，他們能帶來的，最多是散兵游勇式的騷擾，難成氣候。

Burj Dubai - 20100104
The 828-metre tall monster, Burj Dubai, becomes the up-to-date tallest building in the world. It surpasses the old record holder, Taipei 101 (509 m), for more than 300 metres. What a giant leap it is.
Burj Dubai, as the name speaks for itself, located in Dubai. According to perception, anything in Dubai is nothing but state-of-the-art, say the palm islands. However, after the Dubai financial crisis, which broke out in late 2009, every high-tech stuff seems a little bit sloppy. Or maybe these man-made things have been built out from the sand and thus, their foundations are a little bit shaky?
Apart from its height, the selling point of Burj Dubai seems to be the Armani Hotel and Armani Residences. Once again, it reveals the main weakness of Dubai. Though Dubai could easily be one of the richest regions in the world, culturally speaking, prominent star is yet to be produced. Thus, the old Italian Giorgio Armani could still be relied upon in order to ensure the tallest building's fame. In this sense, Dubai is so similar to China.
Hopefully Burj Dubai is not another mirage in the desert.

成班契弟 - 20100103
早兩天，演員吳鎮宇涉於麵包店襲擊傷人；昨日，音樂人恭碩良懷疑於澳門山頂醫院拳毆醫生。
都是自我膨漲到不能收拾的契弟。
吳鎮宇辯稱，老婆被人用粗言「鬧到暈」，不出頭不是男人。笑話，出頭有很多方法，可以用口，可以報警，為何出手？這契弟還在說沒有與人衝突，不能見死不救矣矣。我只看事實：警方將案件由襲擊改控傷人。還有，這契弟前科一籮籮：盜竊及無牌駕駛，還未計欠債不還。
至於恭碩良案，可列為「狗熊救美」一類。恭女友到醫院急症室求醫，男醫生為她檢查肛門，後女友向恭投訴被非禮，恭便動手打人。事後，恭碩良的發言人表示，今次事件只是小事，純屬一場誤會，已和平解決。這便露底了。如是非禮，何不光明正大報警，或向醫院投訴？

A New Decade - 20100101
Today, a new day, a new year, as well as a new decade, begins. What a trilogy.
Usually, people like to make wish-list at the commencement of every new year. However, not many of us would keep track with its progress and very rarely, the items in the wish-list could be fulfilled. We are either too greedy or, lack some luck.
However, the main reason of the wish-list's failure is naivety. We over-estimate ourselves. Somehow, after enough bad shots, people would become fragile and evasive and thus, timidity is the end stop.
So, in the new year, together with the new decade, I wish I could be strong and brave as my horoscope. For better or worse, to be a happy man, love the ones I should and do the things I like.
Life is always tough, nevertheless, I would try to grumble less and, enjoy more.
