Begging - 20100225

Financial Secretary John Tsang rendered the Budget of 2010 yesterday. No surprise heard, full of begging received.

Hong Kong is virtually controlled by several estate moguls. Our government, though by slogan "serve the community", we all understand so well that their clients are de facto located in the tip of iceberg only. As a columnist smartly identified, one year ago, CE advised a young professional couple that there were abundant amount of flats sold at $4,000 per square feet in New Territories. Time flies, one year on, Yoho Mid-town is selling at $5,500 per square feet in Yuen Long. Anyway.

However, it is quite sad to see that we Hong Kongers have cultivated a tendency of begging. It is understandable the poor would ask for help. On the contrary, it is most disgusting to see, the so-called middle class jabbered that no help has been given to them. It is no difference to pampered children yell at their parents.

Hong Kongers were independent and self-sufficient. Now, under the culture of lobbying, everybody are busy in listing their agenda but working. Among all things, the worst protest is "government should do something other than stays idle". Government is proven anything but panacea.

Under some situations, the insatiable we would be better-off by keeping our mouths shut.
