近日看蔣勳寫有關美學的書，邊看邊感嘆。
「說文解字」對美的解釋是「羊大為美」。如果美只能下此註解，我註定無福消受了。除非羊之於我有如苦瓜般出現戲劇性變化吧。
中國人曾經是一個對美學極有研究的民族。山水畫、明式傢俱、《紅樓夢》 . . . 一切皆極有品味。可是，經過文化大革命後，美好的都革掉了。
可憐香港，「不幸」曾為殖民地，卻陰錯陽差逃過了文革，理應是中國最有品味的地方。回想七、八十年代，《號外》的陳冠中、鄧小宇、還有已故的丘世文，皆為有 taste 之人。美中不足，他們的 taste 都是西化的。
但是，目下我們的品味真是慘不忍睹。大家的 taste ，已經變成 logo 了。看看女士們的手袋，大家都是拿兩、三個牌子的，比上學用的更 homogeneous 。可惜，這不是 taste ，是 vulgar。至於男人，年紀小的像是營養不良，腳比女人還幼；至於中年的，必捧著個大肚子。不過，不論年齡，他們的美學觀都一樣 - - - 「波大為美」！
要看美的東西，看來都是要去日本了；如沒錢，近近地也可去A貨日本 - - - 台灣。

Cowardice Devil - 20090830
Man Utd is my favourite football team. However, their performance in the new season disappointed me, and yesterday's match against Arsenal was the "epitome".
To me, the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo was not the most concerning problem; instead, Carlos Tevez's transfer to Man City created a greater alert. In the aspect of creativity, Dimitar Berbatov could get the job done beautifully. However, once Tevez left, the fighting spirit of Red Devil could barely be maintained by Wayne Rooney alone, which the intensity is suspicious, especially while fighting against those big teams.
The 1-0 loss to Burnley was simply unacceptable. However, Red Devil's victory against the Gunners made me even sicker. The 2-1 win was of sheer luck, which Man Utd scored from 2 silly defence errors by Arsenal. From the start, Sir Alex Ferguson arranged a 4-5-1 format, with Berba left in the bench. I think the decision was nothing less than cowardice. With the home court advantage, and the absence of Cesc Fabregas, the best play maker in my opinion, how come the defending champion could be in such an ugly defensive form.
This unworthy triumph gave me a sinister feeling, that Sir Alex Ferguson would be of the illusion that their team was in form. If such kind of mentality goes on, I bet Man Utd could be out of reach of any trophy this season.

「醫療事故」 - 20090829
又有「醫療事故」發生，北區醫院再成主角。當上次「驗錯細胞割錯乳」的「事故」還歷歷在目，昨天新戲又上畫，以「嗎啡滴滴仔」名之。
絕對明白，任何人為事情皆可導致意外。平心而論，香港公立醫院質素已屬頂尖 - - - 收費平，效率亦高。雖然近來有赤化跡象，如早前旺角小巴意外，醫院要求先收錢後處方貴藥 . . . 不過，相信經傳媒口誅筆伐後同類事件在2046年前再出現機會不大。
倒是從不斷的「事故」，看見香港的法治有江河日下之勢。不論警方、或是醫院，每當有「事故」，高層都會即時跟傳媒說「事故」是意外、是個別事件等。稍遠的例子有尼泊爾男子被警射殺，警方於事發翌日便自行作出裁決，說甚麼警員依足指引云云；而今次「嗎啡滴滴仔」，北區醫院又急說病人死因非因嗎啡錯由口服變吊滴。只想問，他們當警監會和死因庭等無到乎？還是當我們升斗市民是白痴，你講我就信呀？
儘管老掉牙，還是要重申權力制衡，即 check & balance 的重要。並期望李官會於適當場合，如司法年度開幕，致詞悍衛司法權，順道訓斥一眾 usurp judicial power 既 minnows。

Real Bravo! - 20090828
A 17-year-old British teenager, Mike Perham, becomes the youngest person to sail around the world alone, in the age of 17.
The solo effort is simply marvellous, and must be jaw-dropping to most of the Hong Kongers, including me.
Imagine this, if the boy had been born, unluckily in Hong Kong, he would have never completed this wonder. First, no caring papa and mama would allow their baby to do such a dangerous thing. Even if the parents incline to allow the trip, they would very likely be alleged of "child abuse" by some righteous societies, e.g. the one named with "understanding" and "light" would fuck it up dutifully.
And even if all the third parties, strangely, zip up their mouths about the trip, no ordinary Hong Kong boys could put up with the idea. In nearly a whole year, no others could be relied upon, playing PSP is simply impossible, no girl to flirt with etc. And between the yacht and yourself, there are only sky and sea, boundaries are both imaginatively and realistically unreachable . Above all, boredom would force you to jump into the sea.
I guess Mike would treat loneliness as solitude. On your own, you see the sunrise and sunset, wave crest and trough, birds fly and fish swim. The nuance of nature unravels privately without reservation to you. On your own, you challenge, tackle and smother the nature. Through this epic trip, I guess Mike would grasp the solitude of life.
So, salute to Mike Perham.

「百管城市」 - 20090827
香港是一個「百管城市」，所有東西都以效率先行。
從家裡走到街上，保證所有事物都是受管束的。到公園，生鐵長椅已經間隔成三個座位，確保沒有人能夠平躺。從前的柏油行人路，一律已經由磚頭取代，方便連綿不斷的修路工程，突起的磚頭偶爾還會鬼馬的把行人絆倒。到屋村商場逛逛， 領匯的standardzation絕對不會令你失望。入到百佳，你不假思索便能找到可樂的位置。過年行花市，人潮管制亦已就緒，人鏈向東移你絕不能西行。就算郊遊，石屎鋪好的路徑亦比泥路好行好走。
可是，趣味消失了，自由也萎縮了，舊有的只剩下逐漸褪色的記憶。
從前在公園亂跑亂玩，不會有「食蕉」干涉，累了可躺在長椅上喘息。不同的屋村，有氣味不同的雜貨店。有的鹹魚味霉香極了，有的米香飄盪 . . . 總之不會是超市千篇一律的漂白水味。而店東的性格亦各有千秋 - - - 例如你會避開臭寸的老闆而找侍頭婆，因為她心情好時會少算你一圓半塊。可以肯定的是，他們不會說「請隨便睇」或「歡迎下次光臨」云云的programmed language。而從前行泥土山路，你總能回望到自己跌盪的腳印。
當今天你想拒絕做一口螺絲的時候，卻發現四周都已變成螺絲模了。

Grand Clamour - 20090826
A Google blogger, Rosemary Port, lost in a defamation lawsuit against a Canadian model, Liskula Cohen, who was called "Skanks in NYC" in Ms Port's blog. Subsequently, Ms Port filed a lawsuit against Google for damages of $15 million.
One of the most fascinating things of the case is the argument between privilege of anonymous speech and libel in Internet. It is a common sense that anonymous speech is not an absolute right. Ms Port argued that her blog would never be read de facto by any third parties, other than the claimant and herself. However, in principle, everybody could surf it. And in normal defamation case, the phrase "Skanks in NYC" itself is prima facie libelous.
The other interesting point of the case is Ms Port's allegation against Google, that it "breached its fiduciary duty to protect Ms Port's expectation of anonymity." The "breach of its fiduciary duty" part is both creative and legally sound. And the shrewdest thing is to evade the argument on the point of libel. However, we should not forget at the first place that Google's "leakage" of Ms Port's privacy was to comply with court's request. Is there any ground for Google to say no to court, e.g. by civil disobedience? But, America is no China.
Ms Port claimed that "this has become a public spectacle and a circus that is not my doing". It just made me giggle that being the culprit, as always, Ms Port would never understand that by saying so, she solidified her role as a clown, the protagonist of this spectacle.

8月20日晚收工，於apm三聯打書釘，瞄過陳雲的《難忘香港食與色- - -城鄉風俗雜憶》，甚喜；翌日買了，閱畢大樂。
以前看過陳雲的文章，水蛇春內容及jargon糾纏其中，直覺與梁文道同道，沒有理會。近日閱讀《壹週刊》非常人語有關陳的專訪，見他直認以嫖妓實現身體自由，感到有趣遂留下印象以致拿起他的書翻閱。
《難忘香港食與色- - -城鄉風俗雜憶》收錄陳雲於明報及信報的專欄文章，書如其名分兩部分：食與色。因書的內容都是閒話，所以沒有中人欲嘔的術語；而懷舊及率真的味道也合我脾胃。如提到「老鴇埋年」的歇後語是「算鳩數」，真是活到老學到老。
書中精鍊流麗的文筆亦屬罕見。觀乎近年那些不堪入目的翻譯小說，錯漏百出的娛樂圈才子才女的「作品」，相比之下《難》書文字功力實超晒班。無怪乎陳雲曾奪某文學獎。
年紀大了，還是可能對人或事改觀的，儘管機會渺茫。陳雲便是一例。

Champety & Maintenance - 20090824
The legislative councillor of the functional constituency (insurance) said syndicates of solicitors and recovery agents have conjured up many fraudulent personal injury claims which led to huge loss of the insurance companies.
This piece of news reminded me of a recent case that a solicitor was sentenced to 15 months' imprisonment and a recovery agent to 16 months' imprisonment, regarding their violation of statute related to "Champety and Maintenance". What a heavy penalty.
So many countries have abolished the law on "Champety and Maintenance", which is globally seen as obsolete. US is the most extreme example. Under the "no success no fee" arrangement, solicitors are touted as "sharks", since where the blood appears, the swarm of "sharks" arrives at once. As such, vexatious litigation is an ordinary noun to the US people.
We Hong Kongers are in the other end of the spectrum. Under the influence of "River Crab" culture of the Mainland, we do not want to "enter the court while alive, go to hell while dead". And proletarians here are usually not familiar with their legal rights. So, it is very arguable whether justice has been done if those sufferers, because of the "River Crab" or lacking legal knowledge, do not sue those insurance companies for compensation. On the contrary, by the aid of "sharks", who are motivated to render their best service by the proportionate portion of damages to be shared, sufferers could not be said as less beneficial than by sitting alone helplessly.
To me, this old law should be superseded by modern ones asap. The main focus should be on the ratio of distribution of damages among claimant, solicitors and recovery agent, once they won the litigation.

不想看的主因是有大把alternatives。樣更靚身材更正，露得清脫得徹底，如AV女優者。
選美從來是高級女知青的鞭撻對象。被男司儀不停的糟質，燕瘦環肥的泳裝環節，和老豆老母真情告白抱頭痛哭等等。為什麼咱們小女子的身與心都要赤裸裸暴露於你班死淫蟲眼前喎 . . .
『美貌與智慧並重』從來是一個神話。美貌者，看看『女版許愿』，在正牌許愿的襯托下，一看，內心暗叫：『他孖的』！然後趕快click去第二頁，尤其當下舊曆七月；至於智慧，即時想起以下對白 - - -

Online Ticketing - 20090822
"The Hangover" will be watched this afternoon.
Nobody would openly admitted that this type of film is their cup of tea, unless childish and naivety become chic. Still, if the film could give you a good laugh, it should be fine. As we can see, all the maestros have gone . . . Bergman, Antonioni, Fellini . . . so nobody would laugh at anybody for their taste of movie.
Tickets are bought online. I, as an oldie, who is too lazy to pick up the new technology, has refused to click mouse instead of line up until today.
There is no doubt that e-ticketing is a super convenience. By pressing the left button of mouse several times, the tickets are virtually in your pocket for no longer than 2 minutes. Once the first time has been completed, I am sure that nobody would go to buy tickets in person anymore, especially the staff over the sales counter is as robotic as your computer.
Back to the day when Internet is not as essential as water, waiting in the row is inevitable for the tickets. It explains why old films always seem better than new ones, as waiting itself makes everything more valuable. When you were in love then, you wait, not only for the tickets, but also for your dream one, to be realized as the one sitting next to you. Now, through e-ticketing, everything could be dumped easily. Just by double-clicking the recycling bin, and a mere "yes" for confirmation, it's gone, as "love".

平等定公平？ - 20090821
昨天，香港高級公務員協會大聲疾呼，指中、低層公務員可獲豁免減薪，但高級公務員則完全按薪酬趨勢指標減薪 5.38%，有欠公平。
平等及公平是經常被人有意無意混淆的兩個概念。
平等者，即人人有份，永不落空。例如，從生物學角度看，凡正常女子皆有乳房，此謂平等；至於乳房尺寸大小，實有賴先天基因加後天努力或加工，如鬼婆一般較東方女子『波瀾壯闊』。公平與否，實見仁見智。
而公平者，簡而言之，是在平等的基礎上，加多一個考慮因素，即『組群』的處理。例如，陳師奶有兩個仔女 (A組群) 及兩個朋友 (B組群) 。當陳師奶只給兩個仔女零用錢，她的兩個朋友不會因而投訴不公平；不過，如陳師奶只給零用錢囝囝，不給囡囡，便是不公平。如果陳師奶要同時俾錢仔女及朋友，那是平等。

Decency - 20090820
In the name of openness, our society is amnesiac to decency. The phenomenon could easily be caught in the eyes, among others, from shallow criticism, hollow nosiness and overt bootlicking.
Body shape and choice of clothes are nonchalantly criticised. True, everybody has their own preference. However, in the old days, it was a taboo to sneer at others in-your-face which would be treated as barbaric. But now, kids just love to point fingers at others, even with a big smile hang in their face. "Respect" has been evicted from the dictionary.
Nosiness has demolished the threshold of privacy. Some people, could never be described as your friends and just barely be labelled as your "acquaintances" , would love to investigate any family tree. While they sniff something, no matter the triviality, once they are on, they would bite it until the bone is seen. Unfortunately, you could never glimpse their life in the same way.
Bootlicking, generally speaking, is not a problem. However, its overt execution is abhorrent. Say, in front of 20 colleagues, somebody would just praise the boss without his/her face reddened. It would be a shame that this somebody does not know, on one hand, by shining boss boots publicly, he/she has just made 20 foes; on the other hand, the effectiveness is usually suspicious.
In this silly world, maybe subtlety has become stupidity whilst vulgarity amounts to smarties.

It would be a shame that this somebody does not know, on one hand, by shining boss boots publicly, he/she has just made 20 foes; on the other hand, the effectiveness is usually suspicious.
In this silly world, maybe subtlety has become stupidity whilst vulgarity amounts to smarties.

笑 - 20090819
鄰座同事常問我：『你笑乜0者』？我想她定必感到奇怪，好端端在工作間有啥好笑？
我承認很喜歡、亦很容易笑。因為，於我而言，快樂應笑；憤怒更可笑。
大笑傻笑微笑淫笑都可歸納為快樂的笑。有人說，笑話題材不離三個範圍：性、宗教及政治。很是認同。箇中原因不難明白。在不同程度上，這三樣東西都是一些日常生活的禁忌。圍繞這三兄弟的笑話，有助我們掙脫枷鎖。所以，每當想到『對穿牆』俾『唐伯虎』『隊』到露出半邊龜頭，我定必開懷大笑。
至於憤怒時，視乎個人修養，可以選擇冷笑、恥笑或咧嘴一笑。一般情況下，憤怒的人都會碌大對眼青筋暴現。但是，如果在仍然受控時，還是嘿、嘿兩聲較佳。始終，笑，可以避免一拍兩散的機會較高，這亦正是『一笑泯恩仇』的道理。
終極目標是會心微笑 - - - 即心裡明白《金剛經》中『一切有為法，如夢幻泡影，如露亦如電，應作如是觀』的道理。明乎此，佛祖拈花微笑是想當然的。
所以，『笑一笑，世界更美秒』真是深刻雋語。
而說到底，我最最喜歡的，肯定是『月笑』 - - - 我媽媽。

A Feast (or Rhapsody?)- 20090818
Tonight I'm going to attend a dinner, to celebrate the first month of a baby boy. The feast, without doubt, should be a sumptuous one.
If I were the baby boy, my life would have been like this . . .
In my childhood, the living atmosphere must be very warm, as swarms of love would be poured from papamama, grandpapamamas, aunts etc. I could foresee that most of my time would be shared with my elder cousin. Though a lovely girl, she is usually officious who would dictate my will by waving her conductor's baton unpredictably. Anyway, her authoritativeness is adopted from one of my aunts who would keep my living environment under the strictest level of hygiene. So, physically, I will be clean and healthy beyond reasonable doubt.
Once I outgrow my cousin, I am free to execute any sort of my rebellious thoughts. Being well-nourished by my grandma, I would never try ketamine. However, owing to my open-minded father and deviated uncle, who is the husband of my "cleaning auntie", my fluency in foul language should be world-class, and I could read as many pornos as I want. Thanks to Donald Tsang, I only have to deal with one open exam instead of two in order to get my entry ticket to the university.
Handsomely built, making girlfriends is never a problem to me. Sadly, most of these "港女" are materialistic and lack depth. None of them would discuss art and philosophy with me. Nevertheless, I accept the reality, get used to it a long time ago and even enjoy it quite a bit.
As everybody is a university graduate, I could only manage to get a so-so job. Though the job itself is always boring, my kidult colleagues could make fun all the time, with all the video games and figures. Sometimes, they would exchange information on the girls in Shen Zhen. Being conditioned to the strictest hygienic level, I would not participate in the "flesh market" in person, but listening to these snippets is usually funny.
If I could catch the normalcy of life expectancy, I would die at around 80. Though the life may not be as colourful as imagined, my "feast" would still be a bittersweet symphony.

剩下的只有軀殼 - 20090817
繼斌仔後，香港又有一個尋求安樂死的病人見報，名蔡雲峰。
蔡先生身體大部份癱瘓，只剩下雙手前臂有些微活動能力，家人亦已離他而去。蔡先生稱，大熱天時背脊痕到爛晒，也沒錢開冷氣。
新聞暴光是因為澳洲醫生Philip Nitschke於電視節目採訪蔡。某傷殘人士協會主席李某表示，反對 Nitschke提倡安樂死。李說社會上有不少資源提供協助，只是癱瘓病人未必找到合適的渠道去求助，呼籲蔡可致電聯絡云云。
想問，一個『只剩下雙手前臂有些微活動能力』的癱瘓人士，又可以怎樣去致電尋求協助呢？
反對安樂死的原因，不外乎宗教及倫理那些虛無縹緲的論調。但是，身體的痛、活動自由的限制是切身、有形的；尤有甚者，如蔡先生的情況，家人捨己而去致使情愛的支撐也崩潰了，也沒有了。
那又要回到老問題，做人為什麼？如果有一天，錢沒有了；活動自由沒有了；連李天命提倡的『情愛宗教』也沒有了，還想做人嗎？
還是學英國指揮家Sir Edward Downes好了。相愛54載的伴侶有terminal cancer，自己則『只是』失聰而已。他倆還是選擇一起住瑞士，在病床上，手牽著手，安樂死去。
人，理應如此。

Fill the Last Hole - 20090816
The Kowloon Southern Link (KSL), inaugurates today, makes the East Rail and West Rail as one.
This piece of news, has not driven the Hong Kongers to jubilee as predicted. All the East Railers grumble out the several additional minutes to be wasted by transiting from "Humg Hom" to "East Tsim Sha Tsui", whilst the West Railers mumble the voidness of "Austin".
Travelling time has always been the main issue among Hong Kongers. The comparison of train and bus, in the sense of time saving, is the perennial hot topic for chit-chatting in the office pantry. The difference of milliseconds could drive us crazy.
Though most of Hong Kongers are gourmets, and few are starting to appreciate the art of "slow food", all of us could still not to tolerate the extra minutes to be spent in travelling, especially on commuting between office and home. It would be very strange to foreigners, particularly to the Europeans, as the basic unit of time to them appears to be "hour", and "minute" seems to has already been sunk into oblivion in their everyday life.
Having sustained our life tempo in the fifth gear, to maintain the super efficiency, we Hong Kongers are spoilt children as well as sufferers.

「意外後果 」(Unintended Consequences) - 20090815
經濟低迷，政府救市藥石亂投。經楊懷康及林行止等人在專欄中連番引用後，「意外後果」一詞如風疹般返發起來；相反，經濟好時，政府做什麼都像對，「意外後果」便會自動自覺冬眠。
源自經濟學，「意外後果」被自由經濟學派發揚光大，乃至成為日常用語。
近例有校園驗毒計劃。練乙錚指美國校園驗毒計劃所引發的「意外後果」，令市場上多了一種暢銷產品 - - - 「無毒尿」！一包在手，莘莘學子點驗都無憂。
我們每天都面對各式各樣的 「意外後果」吧。如沙士過後，人人衛生意識急升，「正常後果」是酒精等消毒用品銷路狂飆；而「意外後果」就是，過度使用酒精以致皮膚乾燥敏感，令護膚品公司及皮膚科醫生賺到笑；又或者返回避孕套未面世之時，可樂在凌晨時份都應該特別好賣 . . .
「意外後果 」和「命中注定」似乎是一對痴男怨女了。「意外後果 」的出現，都是事主事前沒有想到，繼而「命中注定」般發生的。只是，為了避免或促成某事，作出相應舉動而導致「意外後果 」，究竟，又是否會得不償失呢？
人生便總是充滿了這些不能避免、有趣但又令人困惑的難題了。

Book Fair - 20090814
Have not been to book fair in Hong Kong for years.
I love reading, and like to hang around in book stores to skim books, even for a whole afternoon. Sadly, the atmosphere of book fair is just suffocating here in the "Pearl of Orient".
The major problem is, the organizer, TDC, treats book fair, together with any other exhibition, say food fair, with the same mentality in the same manner. By setting up numerous booths plus an enclosed area for seminar, bureaucracy prevails round-the-clock in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre without prejudice to the type of products under promo. And once I could connect book to food, my appetite is lost.
The ambiance of book fair is also weird. Frankly, I do not come across many readers in daily life. We Hong Kongers are too busy to squeeze out the invaluable time to read, by forfeiting the opportunity to jump into the "stock sea". Strangely, during the book fair, all of us are happy to bustle in it and thus, the attendance is predestined to be broken in every new occasion.
Though the attendance must be record-breaking, the thought of most of us is the same - to earn back the money spent in the tickets! And book fair has become, more or less, the Mecca to Hong Kongers, but the purpose of going could be anything but spiritual. The situation could be compared with travelling, below dialogue could easily be overheard in any office -
A: "Where have you been in the holiday?"
B: "O, just Kyoto"
A: "I've been there too, good!"
B: "Yea!"
. . .
The same dialogue could be repeated by replacing "Kyoto" with "Book Fair". I choose not to be assimilated in every possible chance.

滑稽 - 20090813
每當看到大陸維護『國家安全』的新聞，及香港傳媒『義憤填膺』的反應，都感覺很滑稽。譚作人案，以及連帶的艾未未涉被毆及Now新聞台記者涉被屈事件，只是滄海一粟吧。
中港反應有如此落差的關鍵，是paradigm不同。以『玩笑式』三段論闡述如下：
大陸『邏輯』 -
大前題：黨最大，以黨治國
小前題：有豆腐渣工程即管治失效無能
結論：黨無能 (有此結論仲唔係煽動顛覆國家叛亂？)
香港『邏輯』 -
大前題：三權分立，以法治港，依法辦事 (主觀願望 . . . )
小前題：有豆腐渣工程即管治失效無能
結論：相關管治者依法受罰，沒有『國家』概念牽涉其中
因此，以香港『邏輯』看大陸事情，根本是『雞同鴨講』。在兩套不同的範式下，同一事件發展出不同結果沒有矛盾。正如鬼佬覺得舒淇、杜鵑靚，我地見到妖妖聲一樣。

Spice It Up - 20090812
Male tennis is so fascinating in the prevailing time. We witness the greatest rivalry, between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, as an epic film. Nevertheless, snippets outside the court are nothing less than ordinary. Novak Djokovic is the main propeller.
Together with Andy Murray, Djokovic is one of the two serious contenders to challenge the crown shared by Federer and Nadal. Gifted with an athletic body and equipped with scathing groundstrokes from both wings, Nole is already a one-time Grand Slam champion, as the title holder of Australian Open in 2008.
I must confess that, being a Federer's fan, Djokovic's utterance was sometimes irritating. In addition, Djokovic's credibility and stamina was not beyond doubt, with the precedent of withdrawal from the match against Andy Roddick in 2009's Australian Open. However, being controversial seems to be his inborn character.
Nickname "the Djoker", the guy is a real fun. His mimicry to Nadal and Sharapova should be all-time classics. During the player dinner party in Rogers Cup 2009, Novak stripped his clothes off on the stage, with just the mere underwear hung around his bare body! Could you imagine Roger to do the same thing?
Changing of racquet seems to have affected Djokovic. His record in 2009 is dimmer than the previous couple of years, especially in the Grand Slams. U. S. Open would be his final chance to save his face in this calendar year. Anyway, if Federer and Nadal could not clinch the U. S. Open title, Djokovic would be a way better choice than Murray, whose defensive game plan torments both his opponents and me.

男人「電車化」 - 20090811
酒井法子是我摰友中學時的女神，亦曾經是我訕笑的對象。如今，神話幻滅，如常。
倒是從北野武的言論，及酒井丈夫的行徑 (北野武批評，酒井丈夫頂證妻子不對，指為人丈夫，即使說謊也應保護妻子) ，見證日本男人的「電車化」。
曾經，日本男人，即使如同性戀(或雙性戀)的三島由紀夫，是很陽剛氣的。由黑澤明的三船敏郎，到「花火」的北野武，一脈相承，日本男人在電影裡都是鐵錚錚的男子漢；在真實生活，日本男人同樣霸氣 - - - 想到三島由紀夫和他的盾社為抗爭而切腹，只是想，已經感受到那股 macho 味。
但是，現今日本的男人，可只能稱作男仔了。電視劇「電車男」把這群男仔的形象鮮活地呈現眼前：瘦弱、閃縮、欠缺自信。即使驅使「電車男」改革的動力，不幸地，也只是「為女死、為女亡」，為了愛馬仕。
這是本末倒置了。
從前，成為男子漢是本，保護婦孺是末；現在，溝女是本，逃跑及出賣是末。當然，平機會及女性主義可能是促成此現象的幫兇；但是，生活過份優悠，上網多過食飯的習慣似乎影響更大。
為女士難過。

An Obituary - A Tribute to A Pumpkin Bud - 20090810
One of the three pumpkin buds (may I name it as Buddy), belongs to my office's neighbour, died prematurely, at the age of 21 days old.
From cradle to grave, Buddy has been in a precarious state. The weakest among his siblings though, attraction has always been shined on him. In an office packed of lovely ladies, with compassionate hearts, Buddy was our star.
Born with a shorter height, Buddy's fragility was eye-catching. Extra attention has been paid to Buddy. Water and sunshine, day after day, however, the withering leaves refused to be nourished still. Though I kept on saying the sinister stuff, the well wishing has never been dumped from the bottom of my heart. Sadly, Buddy bent his knees today . . .
May I send my condolence to Buddy by a song from "Smashing Pumpkins"

竊聽風雲 - 20090809
昨晚在元朗百老匯看了『竊聽風雲』。看前有些微期望，結果有少許失望。
先講個cinema house，細到無倫而且設備分分鐘衰過私人屋苑果d都仲收我$49位。妖！
戲的英文名叫『Overheard』。心想：竊聽不是『Eavesdrop』嗎？Overheard係無意中聽到嘛 . . . 看畢，還是有點疑惑，戲中警察分明是主動竊聽，儘管竊聽所得資料和竊聽目的有偏差 . . .
能明白電影票房報捷原因，主要是選角精明。拖友入場，男睇劉青雲女睇吳彥祖，各懷鬼胎但又各取所需，因為劉青雲真的好戲而吳彥祖又真的好型！
失望主因是套戲爛尾。喂，我諗香港人無邊幾個無睇過『國產零零柒』掛？咁抄法都得？另外戲中有些細節亦叫人莞爾，古天樂同楊鈴想搞野之際，拎個dom出黎 . . . 但係佢屋企就成棚細路！究竟係個角色生左咁多細路至知驚要出入平安？又或是為了交代想搞野呢個情節，而忽略了人物應有性格？
有得揀過，都係租DVD。

Crisis Management - 20090808
Yesterday, a nurse was assaulted by an old drunkard inside a nursing home. One of the pundits suggested that knowledge on "Crisis Management" could help avoid the similar events.
Having been worked in the training field for 3 years, I witnessed the distortion of "Crisis Management", and the prevalence of that cliche.
"Crisis Management", to me, would be related to the management of event which could not be predicted of, either in the sense of nature, say in the past, the incurrance of homosexual marriage to the Roman Catholic Church; or in the sense of timing which the attack of tsunami would be an epitome. Nevertheless, the intensity of crisis should be a serious one.
However, training courses related to "Crisis Management" that I've arranged for were, sadly to say, simply "Event Management". To take the nurse's assault as an example. Isn't it arguable that a lonely old man, fond of liquor, with bad temper would be of higher tendency to hurt others? And there were abundant precedents from other nursing homes to cite. In addition, would you call some usual assault and battery as "crisis"? Actually, if top management could perform their roles properly, with clear vision, delegation, communication as well as shrewd standardization of work procedure happen in the organization, the lower tier could fulfill their role, without using crisis as a pretext to cover up the inapt operation of everyday business events.
Anyway, everything is amplified nowadays.

龍游淺水被犬欺 - 20090807 (補白)
午飯後，途經『城東誌』。此乃觀塘最蔟新商廈之一，外形摩登整潔，置身其中如人在中環，自信登時提升不少。 走進內院，發現朱銘的雕塑，名廈名雕自當匹佩。

引鐵馬呼應名雕，有『銀色的不鏽鋼擊落黑色的石頭』之氣象，實在非常的後現代，只有香港的物業管理公司才有如此手筆！
長跑 - 20090807
不經不覺，跑齡已經超過10年。
想起中學時，最討厭的運動便是長跑了。每當到了男同學最熱切期待的體育課時，大家都希望踢波、打籃球。長跑從來都是沙頭角鄉長個女。
但是，當大家都到了『你有你既生活，我有我既忙碌』的階段，踢波、打籃球已經變成『只可遠觀，不可褻玩』的Audrey Hepburn了。如果再坐一會，嚇然想到身邊男同學的身形 - - - 面珠下垂、腰羔暴凸、胸部如少女般發育而有偷阿媽細妹胸圍戴既需要之際 . . . 頃刻，李愛變成了李英愛！
四季交替，跑步如常，感覺迥異。在盛夏34、5度高溫下跑，皮膚上每一個毛孔，以至於五臟六腑，甚至乎頭髮、牙齒也在流汗！於我而言，這是比洗禮更聖潔的cleansing，臨近『究竟涅槃』之地；至於深冬，雖已戴上冷帽、手套，寒風蝕骨依舊。在全身麻木的狀態下，機械式地維持著同一組動作跑，相距『入定』也不遠了。
沒有參加過任何公開比賽，如渣打、nike . . . 因為從未有過要在跑步中『挑戰自我』的想法。所以，參加這些比賽，對我來說是沒有意義的；而幸運地，跑了這麼多年，基本上沒有受過傷。只是近期，右腳掌開始隱隱作痛 . . .
最後想提村上春樹的《關於跑步 - - - 我說的其實是》。村上的小說，中四、五時看過，除了性的描述外，已沒有其他剩餘印象了。但是他的《關於跑步》，卻很是好看。書中提及村上對自己墓碑的設計，為自己加上『跑者』的身份，型！

HaHa Diplomacy - 20090806
Everybody is praising the effort of former US President, Mr Bill Clinton, on the release of two journalists under North Korean's "hostage".
However, the capacity of Bill Clinton regarding his visit to North Korea could never be crystal clear. On state affairs? Or humanitarian affairs???
Personally, I think that state affairs could only be handled between respective officials. If the meeting was conducted by Ms Hilary Clinton, as Secretary of State, the purpose would have been fitted in. Bill Clinton's official capacity has been buried long long time ago.
Nonetheless, if the meeting was not related to state affairs, instead, say upon humanitarian issue, liked Mr Bill Clinton's one as framed, it would be fine too, as the purpose could be as loose as it gets.
But the world could never be operated in the orthodox sense as you may think of. Like this one, though lewd old Bill was clad with the humanitarian overcoat, his trip to North Korea was nothing less than the state affairs between US and North Korea. Lewd old Bill's wife previous utterance and Barack Obama's later speak revealed this fact blatantly.
To me, one of the funniest things of the trip was that the revered North Korea leader Kim Jong Il claimed that Bill said sorry to him . . . wait a moment, I am just confused how that "sorry" could be weighted. From US, or old Bill's organization? It's a real conundrum.
Another interesting stuff was witnessed in yesterday's TV news. The camera panned to the two released journalists, young and pretty, walking upstairs towards the aeroplane's entrance, and lewd old Bill, Lewinsky's Ex, was waiting in the plane . . . I had the feeling that it could be an even more dangerous trip than the North Korea's one for the duo.

從來不明白，究竟 Kitty 的魅力在那裡？
死梗派的2D畫面，永遠的目無表情，老土豔紅的蝴蝶結，及謎一樣的咀巴形狀 . . .
對女性來說(三歲到八十歲)，可能就是Kitty那簡單到不能再簡單的造型，叫她們能對這貓 love at the first sight 吧。
『真係好 kawaii 呀！』『嘩，好靚呀！』 . . . 諸如此類的讚美，Kitty 從來不缺。
在什麼東西都3D、甚至4D的今天，還有普天之下絕大多數女子能對此2D貓此誌不諭，實在有點令人詫異；但想深一層，又有點叫人動容。環顧四周，事物的保鮮期不過短則三幾天，長則一兩年的速食社會，滄海桑田，還有這麼長青的一個 icon，能不叫人掉眼淚嗎？
不過，掉眼淚的僅止於女士們吧，我便未曾見過有男人喜歡 Kitty 了。雖則有女同事說知道有男人非常喜歡 Kitty ；但對我來說，明顯地，這只是一種手段。

一) 在上面的網頁，看見一段文字，摘錄如下：『. . . 你的每一個抉擇，將構建 Hello Kitty 的個性取向 . . . 』老眼昏花差點嚇死。

Swan & Delivery - 20090804
It's strange that there could be any linkage between the typhoon "Swan" and baby delivery. However, the two of them unleashed the inquisitiveness among colleagues, in a legitimate sense.
Every time, when there is a typhoon approaching, everybody would be incarnated as Fung Shui masters, or stock pundits. By projecting when we could be released from office, whether the storm could attack HK face-to-face, would be our joyous moment. Anyway, being accurate or not, the result is superficial and superfluous as the stuff would just ebb out in the usual hollow way.
Going to the baby delivery, speculation is everywhere and diversified in the pettiest sense. Public or private hospital? Boy or girl? Caesarean section or natural . . . the list could go on endlessly. Somehow, it is strange that men, mythicized to be more rational than women, could click to the topic, as fervent as any chatterbox. To me, as sang-froid as ever, would just think that baby delivery is simply a one-way trip, from nothingness to nothingness.
Cynical, though, I would think that this behaviour is despicable. However, I am old enough to participate in the discussion and get rid of the even duller stuff in the office . . . at least boss would join-in and the office could be united in the real sense at that moment. Cheers to evasion.
