LXB, the Dissident - 20091230

Mr Liu Xiao Bo, commonly called by his acronym LXB, was jailed 11 years for the charge of subversion. The tipping point was the propaganda of "Charter 08".

The content of "Charter 08" is anything but creative. It just reinstates some common values that any democratic state has been sharing for a hundred years, and makes a gist on the tragic development of modern China. Strangely, this kind of utterance could be framed as subversive.

As cited in the "Charter 08", China is a signatory of two international human rights conventions. Paradoxically, China's violation on human rights could easily be seen in everywhere of any scale at any time. Just flash black at the "events" in Tibet and Urumqi. And obviously, LXB's sentence is the biggest joke to human right. By imprisoning LXB, China has substantiated what "Charter 08" says, no matter inadvertently or not. However, by protecting the interest of the Communist party, Chinese Officials would sacrifice any other things. Rule of law is always a mirage in China.

By repeatedly testing the demon and embracing sufferance, LXB has become a saint of modern China.
